I need scholarship help please help me!

I got into the summer high school program at NYU which I was thrilled about! Its costs $9000 and I just dont have that kind of money in my household. I need some kind of help because I would really like to participate. I need some kind of advice, guidance. I really dont want to take out a loan.

A summer program that costs 9K? Are you kidding me? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I, along with a few other people on this board that I know of did the program last summer, and believe me, it is worth every penny.
I also had to raise money for it, I wrote a generic letter talking about the program itself, my accomplishments etc. and sent it out to all of my friends, family members, local businesses and such. I ended up raising over half the money this way.

That is such a great idea, it never occurred to me; I have 2 daughters in Conservatory-level training ($$$) and have run out of student loan options. I'm going to try your idea. TYTYTY

Wow... that a lot of money. My only adivce is tp baisically do whatever you can to raise the money (I realize this is obvious and easier said than done but if you really do work at it you probably could make about that much) Do things like after- school jobs, and things like doing odd jobs in you area if you can.
Remember when drama was only on the stage?

Why did you apply if you knew you couldn't afford it and didn't want to take out a loan? I don't think it makes NYU "assholes" for expecting you to work out paying for this elective summer program on your own. If you can't afford $9,000 now, how are you going to afford nearly $50,000 a year to attend college there?

Get a job and earn the money yourself.

well they did have scholarship money but they ran out. So it wasnt like I was like "hey, let me apply for random things" Assholes was a strong word, I changed that. I would get a scholarship which is what I plan to do for college when I go there, but they are mostly available to seniors who are going to college the forthcoming year.

I tried to answer this as nicely as possible however, there seems to be a sardonic undertone to your post (I could be wrong) that I simply will not accept. I simply asked for help and I feel comfortable on here so I didnt think I had to be so cautious before I posted.

does it have to be paid in full all at once? or can you make individual payments?

no, I have to have half before the 24th of this month and the other half before June 1st.
