Posted: 3/18/19 at 12:18amWhizzer’s reviews are insightful, well-written, and, most importantly, a joy to read. When I read a Whizzer review, I remember why I live theatre. Before I moved to NYC, Whizzer’s reviews were what allowed me to experience the joy of Broadway from CA. Now, they are what keep me returning to this website.

This reminds me of the love and adulation Margot used to receive!
I hope Whizzer isn't really Brantley in disguise (though the writing style should confirm this is impossible).

Aww, you all really know how to make a fella blush. After fighting a cold all weekend, this was such a pleasant pick-me-up.
devonian, Don’t worry, I’m not Brantley in disguise :)

Me: Friends/relations first, then professional critics (I know their names) and lastly brilliant posters like many on this board.

Thanks. I’m going tonight-perhaps in a DayQuil haze- but I’ll be there!

I have the same wish! And since I usually don't see shows until later, after I've seen a show I like to go back and find Whizzer's review to read again once I've seen it.
Whizzer - have you ever thought of having a blog or somewhere you could store them after posting them here? It would be so wonderful to have them all in one place.

I am adding my 2 cents in as well... Whizzer absolutely deserves a dedicated 'reviewer' page. He is well respected by those here. It would make it a LOT easier for everyone to find and read his reviews. Moderators...what can we do to give Whizzer the tab, link, etc that he deserves?

Yes! I love Whizzers reviews and I wish there was just a thread or master post of all of his reviews over the years. They were my first introduction to my favorite shows and even before I joined the board I would read them and then think of seeing the show.

I 100% agree. I don't visit/post all that often but I always make a point of coming to the board when a show has started previews to read his review. I agree that I would love to see a master post with just his reviews from over the years!

I find that simply Googling "WhizzerMarvin" and the name of the show will do a better job yielding search results of his reviews. Someone should compile them into one master list on a thread/website.

I love Whizzer’s reviews too, they’re honest and personal and comprehensive (and I know writers aren’t supposed to admit to reading reviews but we do). Yay, appreciation thread!

I always look for them because they demonstrate a love of the theatre, a knowledge of the theatre, they are succinct, and they are never mean. Even when he doesn't like something a lot, he doesn't trash the artists involved (at least, I have never felt that way). I don't always agree with him -- recently, I did not agree in his review of Oklahoma (which I have not seen) re not wanting anything being eliminated from the original score, but I understood his point of view...it was essentially to honor the authors' intentions.
His write-ups are also very straightforward: you know where he stands. Sometimes, I have to read a review more than once to understand whether the critic even liked it.
I can find no higher compliment than to say that I kept returning to the Hadestown previews subject, because he was not at the first performance. No one else individually had much clout with me.
