Oy- At first I read "Idina Menzel Passes Out on Evita Revival" I was going nuts cause I had a feeling this sacred stuff and candle lighting would happen.

Why are they choosing Peron before Evita? Shouldn't the lead come first?

Peron is much easier to cast than Eva, so they would probably just get him out of the way before going through the major audition process for Eva.

Yes, but suppose they have a great Evita that doesn't fit with that specific Peron. It seems that they are choosing Evita based on the Peron.

okay, i have a suggestion for you i think would be a great evita- catherine zeta( i rhymed!) jones! i think she looks the part with the spanish sort of look, but very beautiful, and she can sing, and yeah, just my dream!
please think before you bash this...

Ahh I love Catherine and all but, being selfish and all, Evita is not my favorite show so I wouldn't really want her in it...

No matter what you guys say about Idina she is good sex for a gay man.
(Sorry..I couldn't help it..it's just everytime her name pops up I just feel an urge to say that...)

It's Ruthie Henshall's turn to do be Evita. Honestly, I'd have loved to hear the Evita Cast Recording if Idina had played the title role in this show, I really like her voice. I'm sure the creative team will choose someone that will be able to perform the show at least 6 times a week w/o major issues, and someone who is indeed appropriate for the role.

Just curious, why do ya'll think she can't do it? I mean, I'm not an Evita expert, but I'll be seeing the tour in Febuary, but anyways, why is it so wrong for her? I thinks he could pull it off. She's doing great in SWIWS, and ppl said that wasn't her "normal" thing. Just curious...

Because she's Idina Menzel, and Idina Menzel can't sing or act.

I think people are being narrow-minded in saying she can't pull it off. I think she's capable of a lot more than some people here give her credit for.

Thank god she turned it down, But they should give it to Caroline O'Connor if anyone is right for the role of Evita, it's that woman.

She can Sing, Dance and Act.

I'm glad Idina Menzel's not doing it. So glad.

I'd like to see Julia Murney do it...

But anyway, who CARES about the title role when *Philip Quast* is probably going to play Peron?!! Gorgeous, gorgeous man and so incredibly talented. He'll be great.

The first time I heard her sing "I Dreamed a Dream" it sent chills up and down my spine, and I wondered what her rendition of "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" would sound like. Her voice alone conveys so much passion and tragedy that I think would be perfect for Eva Peron.
