If on a studio recording or something, Idina would be great. Pair her with Raul or Adam, and you'd have a perfect vocal Eva and Che. However, that score will kill her voice. It's best this way.

and by the way..."Idina passes on Evita" she just didn't audition...it doesn't mean she would have gotten the role.

Reports on every move Idina Menzel makes are getting old, and I'm not even around here as much as others. As are Wicked threads, might I add. I guess it just comes with the territory.
I'm glad she's decided to pass, but nonetheless i think she's crazy....turning down a chance to play Eva Peron in a London revival of Evita..(that very well could transfer in the next five or so years, it's due for a Broadway revival as well)
Phew. Im happy that she knows what roles she can tackle and what roles she wasn't exactly meant to play.
**Lets see how long it takes before this thread transforms into a "LETS BASH THE SH*T OUT OF IDINA AND HER CAREER AND TALENT" thread....I say 10 more posts.**
Does anyone else think there's a little publicity hunger going on here? Who cares.....It was only speculation to begin with. It's not as though she was offered the part. She just decided to not audition. Good grief they have to have an official press release for that?
I passes on auditioning for the role too, but you don't see that making the papers......

Yeah, agreed on the relief that she passed on this. I think her voice and type are just all wrong for EVITA. And I say that without any malice at all. Just my opinion, based upon having seen her body of work and having heard her sing live. I think she'd probably destroy her vocal chords trying to sing that score 8 times a week. And I don't think it would properly showcase her, either.
I hear London's got some great talent, though. I think it's a shame to "bus" in our actors when I know they've got some of the most amazingly talented folks around.
