Wishing Idina the best of luck

sorry, stupidity is driving me back here....

first off, i am changing the title back to my "Wishing Idina the best of luck" one....

Idina is seriously injured and that's not funny. Neither is the fact that people paid money to see her last show. No matter how obsessed they are with idina - they still paid money for her.

Mmhmm, that's true, Jade. We don't need anymore recounts. (Although if she just bruised her side and has internal injuries, I don't see why someone would start yelling, "There's blood!" - misheard, perhaps?)
"It's not always about you!!!" (But if you think I'm referring to you anyway, then I probably am.)

Anyone who thinks thousads of unhappy, disappointed fans is funny is just a little sick. I admit, I've poked fun at the show before, but saying that it's funny that all these people who paid for their tickets JUST to see Idina and she may not be there is funny...that's just mean. And sick.

This must really suck for Idina...not only is she going to leave Wicked with a less-than-hoped for 'bang' (if one at all), but she gets to go into RENT with an injury and spend the first several weeks working on the singing (which will really hurt if she has a rib injury).

Best wishes and all to her...

I agree - and not only did they spend money on her, they had their heart on being at an awesome moment, an original cast member's last show. Idina is obviously a beloved member of the Broadway community (yes sometimes too much so, but still), and it is a shame that her last night of something that truly has shaken up Broadway, and become such a huge part of her life, has to be ended on a possible bad note.

maybe she cut herself...when things like this happen, everyone over reacts (i mean about seeing blood)

I Really hope she's ok...I love how all some people can think about is paying 300 dollars for tix when this thread first came up. I cannot believe how self-centered some people are.

The poster said that a stagehand asked "Is there blood?" NOT "There is blood!"

yea maybe she scrapped her knee or elbow as well or something

well, i don't have tix...so i first thought of her getting better...i'm sure if i did have 300 dollar tix i would be pissed, but just upset that she's hurt and won't be there for her last performance....is this really how it will end for her? after 3 years of slaving away as Elphaba?

Ah, indeed. So this whole skimming thing hasn't been working out for me tonight, and I'm becoming dyslexic, apparently.

Or else can I be put on the list of people perpetuating inaccurate rumors? Ever hear the one about the neckbrace?

*ducks*

This thread has more rumors and false accounts and half-truths than Richard Nixon's memoirs.

And the comment: "I speculate that she fainted because she was overcome with emotion" made me chuckle.

But in all truthfulness, let's just pray she is alright.
Her health and well-being is 100 times more important than tomorrow's audience being disappointed that they didn't get to see her.

"I just can't imagine what the fans who paid >$1000 for tickets from scalpers are doing right now. Getting drunk...."

Tiff...think for a moment! Those people can't afford to get drunk....they spent all their money on the tickets!!!

"so why wasnt that board there? hmm doesn't that make you think? i mean why would it suddenly not be there? can she sue?

Um, she COULD sue them. It'd be workers compensation. (i.e she got hurt while working so an employer could be held responsible for her injuries.)

I too was wondering how they got Shoshana in green so quickly. All that for just the last 5 minutes. Do you think the audience would have cared if she was not in the green makeup?

I doubt Idina will perform tomorrow. There's no way they'll put her up in that harness even if her ribs are just bruised. I do think however, she will come out for the curtain call and that will be her last hurrah. I doubt she will do another performance at a later date.
#192

Wishing Idina the best of luck

i hope she recovers soon. both of my parents have broken ribs, and i know from them that it's a miserable experience.

i know that most people seeing wicked this weekend will have seen it before, but stopping the show AFTER the melting scene so a replacement can get ready... gives away the ending JUST A TAD.

and instead of thinking about all the angry fans if idina doesn't go on tomorrow, think about all the lucky fans this afternoon who inadvertently got to witness her last! always look on the bright side, people! Wishing Idina the best of luck

Wishing Idina the best of luck

ya, kim, i always remark on it...

i'm sure shoshana didn't get the "full" treatment...

i have been skimming too....and i missed a lot of posts from which people are quoting...
#194

Wishing Idina the best of luck

I, for one, do think she will be there tomorrow. If anything, just at the end for a curtain call.

If her ribs are too delicate for the harness, perhaps they won't fly her, if she's up to doing the performance minus the flying - and the producers are OK with it.

And Shosana didn't get in the makeup QUICKLY. There was at least 20 minutes of knowing she'd have to go one, as the performance was stopped for 40 minutes.

I think this is all such a shame. Putting aside the Idina-obsession that floods this board it's very sad for her. In any case I too hope she'll be ok. If anyone actually finds credible info (ie an official posting or something on the news) please post where it can be found. Not info from a friend who was eating across the street blah blah blah .....

shesings - an official news release from Broadway.com was already posted. I know this thread is long - but don't make a comment like that without reading the entire thread.

Maybe Idina Could be Nessa tomorrow if she has to be in a wheel chair and it would be easier for her because she could sit. It would also be humerous.
