Well I think it's fair to say that this thread is tired. Can we let it die until we get more reliable updates?
Whoever edited out the horrible comments made in this thread, thank you.
To those who were at the theatre tonight, or saw the show - any buzz?

I apologize for my Idina dying joke ... though it is gone now ... I've never had anything deleted before! ANyway guys I was clearly joking. I love Idina too. I was just trying to point out how overly-dramatic this is getting. Lets all just keep her in our thoughts and hope for the best. It will be a shame if she misses tomorrow, but I think her overall health is clearly more important. I don't think anyone will argue with that. Unless they're trying to get their comments deleted as well....
i feel VERY bad for her. I pray for a speedy recovery, because in all seriousness, the woman was just doing her job, and something went wrong. I feel quite bad for her, and I hope she is able to perform tomorrow evening.

Rite now I think it's bad enough that all her fans are worried sick and that this did happen, but I don't think anyone knows, which. these things must make Idina feel even worse is that her husband's b-day was last week, and her anniversary is this Tuesday. Aren't those great gifts for her? Besides, it's bad enough with the death threat letters. Now this had to happen? I just feel terrible for her. And I hope she knows how many people actually hope she gets better.

I don't know if this has already been posted cause I didn't read all ten pages but there is an article about this right now on BWW. Just trying to help.

ya it's on the top...also on www.broadway.com
It's terribly sad to hear this news. I'm sure she will recover, and she'll be sad, but she will always have a legendary story to tell about "her final weekend" and all the good spirits that came her way, even if she couldn't finish.
But to her fans seeing the show tomorrow...I'm sure the one thing Idina would not want you to do is miss the show because she may not be there. A show that is presumably so dear to her heart deserves your support. And it's your job to make sure the cast on stage knows that they are loved and appreciated, and make sure they feel the warmth. Because as they say, the show must go on.
p.s. back to the costume question posted waaay earlier...since Shoshana is starting Tuesday, wouldn't she have had her own "official" costume made, if one hadn't been made while she was a standby? So that even if Idina went to the hospital in costume, there wouldn't be a shortage?

Shoshana has her set of costumes tailored to fit her frame. Idina has her own set. There is no designated "Standby" costume. Each costume is fitted for the actor wearing it.
Multiple costumes aren't always made - it depends on how elaborate the piece is.
In the case of Elphaba's costume for that scene: I wouldn't be surprised if duplicates were made.
Oh my gosh! This is horrible. I hope Idina is okay and gets better really soon. *sends oodles of well-wishes her way*
THis may sound wierd, but I had a sort of premonition about this. Earlier today I was thinking "What if Idina gets sick and can't go on tomorrow? That would be horrible!" And now this....

This is not a joking matter and for those of you who keep saying to stop posting or this thread is getting tired need to understand how much pain she must be in. I feel AWFUL for her and am praying that she will have a quick recovery and possibly make it to the show tomorrow. This is heartbreaking news.

I really hope she is ok! If anyone hears whether or not she's performing tomorrow, post it. But try to post only real sources. The 10 pages of speculation is a little much and I'm a Wicked fan!!

I just thought of this...
I wonder how many people were assisting Shoshana Bean in applying her green makeup when she was called in. I thought I read an interview with Idina in which she said that with herself and the makeup artist, it took about an hour. Or did she say that they cut down the time? Anyway, it MUST take more than ten minutes to apply it. And if the break between Idina's incident and the continuation of the show with Shoshana was only 45 minutes, they must have been hustling to greenify her!

just a little tidbit about the costumes ...the standbys each have their own set of each costume. I know this from Ms Laura Bell Bundy who took me backstage and showed me all of hers. And everythingtaboo is right - even if they didn't have individual costumes (which they do) Shoshanna would anyway since she is taking over the role on Tuesday.
I was also at the matinee today, but I read the whole thread and the articles, so I'll try not to repeat any information or just speculate.
During the scene when she melts, you could see her silhouette go down as she went through the trapdoor. Then, someone came out and carried her off to the side and someone else grabbed her hat. JLT stood off to the side for a few minutes and you could hear people talking behind the curtain saying "Call 911!" but I didn't hear anything about blood, just muffled talking (I had a good seat). Then JLT left the stage and the lights came up and the curtain went down.
My dad was waiting outside the theater at the time and saw "someone in a pettycoat and green body paint being loaded into an ambulance." He made no mention of the dress, so it was probably taken off because they wanted to check her ribs. Shoshana was wearing the dress (or her dress) during the curtain call, but not when she first came up out of trapdoor, so who knows.
After the curtain call, Joey stopped the conductor and said that this was "against protocal", but he just wanted to let us know that Idina had hurt her ribs and that she was strong and was going to be okay.
As for Shoshana getting ready so fast, we were waiting for a good 45 minutes. There was definitely enough time to do a passable job, but at that point, I don't think many people were paying attention something as petty as that.
I felt bad, my sister and I ran into some people later that night because that said they were going to see Wicked. We told them about what happened, and at first they didn't believe us. Then they kind of freaked out because they had come this weekend specfically to see Idina's last shows.
Thought of this eerie parallel during the wait: During the filming of The Wizard of Oz, the trapdoor didn't work right for Margaret Hamilton and she was burned on her face and hands when the flames shot up.
I'm going to believe Joey for now and hope Idina will be better soon.

Could this be a hint as to the existence of a "The Wizard of Oz"/Wicked Witch of the West curse that affects those who play the Wicked Witch?? Sorry, I'm a little spacey... Just a thought...
I am sure she will be fine too. But it's not likely she'll be able to perform and that I'm sure is extremely disappointing to her. I bet she was looking forward to doing her last show with her family and friends present. I presume a lot of them would have been at tomorrow's show. I am hopeful she will be able to do it, but I would think fractured or bruised ribs makes it really difficult to inhale deeply. Her role is so vocally demanding, not to mention the harness again.
I still predict she'll come out for the curtain call though. Say her thank you's and that will be that. Still would love to be there myself

Wicked4Lyfe, what has people saying to stop posting have to do with the pain she's in?

I really hope Idina is ok, but I think its stupid to return your tickets just because you might not be able to see her...the show is worth seeing
orangeskittles, I saw the show a couple weeks ago and the dress Elphaba wears when she comes out of the trap door is different than the one she wears for bows...
EDIT: I read somewhere on the Wicked site that it only takes 20 minutes for Idina to "greenify" herself (with the help of the makeup person)

I must admit that I know NOTHING about makeup but I would think (in the interest of saving time) they would only apply the green makeup only where absolutely necessary....that is, skin is in plain view (face, hands etc). For example, in the first act, during Dancing Through Life and Popular she's wear a costume that full shows her arms, neck, face etc. I don't recall that the final costume reveals that much

I never heard that but then again I haven't see The Wizard of Oz in a very long time, I've been meaning to buy it....

Elphaba wears a green stalking-type top so the performer doesn't need to be painted all over. Just the face, neck, and hands are painted. So all they would have had to do was throw some green on Shoshana quickly and get her suited up. I know they add purple to the green face to really bring out the color, but I'd imagine they just threw on the basics this afternoon.

I seriously just spent the last like half hour reading this thread....
That is truly awful what happened. I just saw the show for the first time on tuesday, and Idina was wonderful in it. I will never forget how I got chills from her voice, especially in Defying Gravity and No Good Deed.
I really hope nothing all that bad happened to her. I send all my best wishes to her! And hope she can perform tomorrow, as it is her last and I know she wouldn't want to miss that.
bronte,
The book "The Making of the Wizard of Oz" by Aljean Harmetz (which you could get for a few bucks online) has extensive interviews/info about the Hamilton accident.
