No one! Making a live musical out of Moulin Rouge! would cheapen it, IMHO. It's appeal is so intertwined with film that it would be a crime to ruin it by making it a run-of-the-mill musical we see all too often nowadays. There would be absolutely no way to keep the breakneck pace and cinematic flourishes in tact.

I always thought this would be a great show for Kate Winslet to make her Broadway debut in. The roles songs aren't that difficult. I remember reading somewhere she could sing. I could be wrong though...

Watch the Constance Bennett version from...um...1936? It's black and white, but fun to watch. I did not enjoy the 1950's version of the story, and I tried to watch the Nicole Kidman version. I really tried.
