If Patti Lupone's Memoir Came Out Again..

For those of you who have read the book and are huge fans of Patti, what do you think would be included if the book was updated with a lot of things that have happened  in the  8 years since  it was published?   Here's what I think would be included: 

1. 2011 Kennedy Center Honor's Ceremony Where Patti "made up with Glenn Close"  

2. Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown 

3. War Paint 

4. An Evening With Patti Lupone and Mandy Patinkin 

5. A reference to the youtube videos on her life Entrances, Exits, and Everything In Between and some of the concerts/cruises that she has embarked in those videos as well as in general. 

6.The Anarchist By David Mamet

7. Making Up With Andrew Lloyd Webber?(if that actually happened, not sure that it did)

Your thoughts? What do you think she would add if she updated the book today? What are the experiences that you most want to know about?

The play is David Mamet's The Anarchist. Accidental Death of an Anarchist was covered in the first printing.

She’s spoken about the “reconciliation” with Webber. She basically said they just acknowledged each other and maturely just did the work at hand for the Grammy Awards performance. No talk nor apologies exchanged. Similar to Glenn’s gesture during The Kennedy Center dinner.  “We both know what’s up; no need to discuss it; let’s move on.”

I mean it is a memoir that was pretty thorough in nature- why write a completely new book? It would be easier to just add more chapters to be make it more comprehensive. 

Of course, if she wanted to, she could write a whole book about these past 8 years exclusively, although I don't know if she would ever want to do that.

If it were published today, there would be a huge storm of outrage against Topol. I'm honestly shocked that her story about Topol grabbing her breasts hasn't reemerged in the #metoo era. 

I know that's not what this thread is about, but I'm just shocked more people haven't talked about this story recently.

i’d love for her to just write another book, i’m sure she has plenty of more stories about the old days as well as regarding the last decade since her last one was released

Yeah, when a reporter asked her if things didn't make it into the book, she laughed out loud and confirmed it. 

I want to know when Kelli and Audra will write books too- Kelli at least deserves to be added into the "Nothing Like A Dame"   book now that she's won the Tony. Jessie Mueller would make a good addition too.

She has more than enough material for a second book. In addition to what’s been mentioned in this thread, she could also cover.

1. Her auditioning for Woody Allen for Bullets Over Broadway. I’m sure she has plenty of tea to spill.

2. More information on the Hello, Dolly! Revival that Jerry Herman put a stop to.

3. And she must have many more stories of men treating her unfairly throughout her career.

4. Her work in TV and film since her first memoir. I’d love to read about her experiences on American Horror Story and Penny Dreadful.

5. In addition to Bullets and Dolly, there are likely plenty of roles she has lost out on that we don’t know about.

6. Her struggles with her hip on stage, and working through the pain.

She could have another online contest to name the book, with the winner being “Patti LuPone: Another Memoir”.

I'd like to know more about her auditioning for Sunday in the park with George and Sondheim reportedly told her to stop belting? Damn she'd be an amazing Dot. 

I also heard somewhere she was approached to do a Funny Girl revival in the 1980's but didn't think she could fill Barbra's shoes. 

And the final thing I wish she would shed more light on is if she was ever approached the replace Bernadette in Hello Dolly and if she would ever do it.

I don’t think she would’ve replaced Bernadette because she’s been committed to the Company revival in London since last September. I know she loves working in London and is so excited about working with Marianne Elliott, so I would’ve been surprised if she withdrew.

I forgot she was doing Company. You're right she probably wouldn't have been able to do it. So then I'll guess I'll change my answer to wanting to know more about the Dolly Revival that she potentially was attached to a few years.

If she did write a part 2 to her book, it should be called - "Me Kvetching Again."

Because the first one that's pretty much all she did was kvetch.

I dont get why Sondheim was opposed to Patti doing Dot. Most of what Bernadette did was belting.

Not really- Bernadette did not belt it the way Patti would have. Peters sang the role in a “soft mix” for a lot of it which refers to a mix that is serviceable, but not quite enough to satisfy the demands of this piece. The vocal demands of the role of Dot include belting, head voice singing, and singing in a chatty speech like mix throughout. Bernadette was in bad vocal shape when doing the show, so her vocal interpretation was not the ideal one from a purely technical standpoint, but there was no doubt she was amazing in the role.

I think a lot of women struggle with the score because it requires a strong lower mix to sing as well as the variety of sounds that the role can be sung in. However, I personally think the role could be effectively sung in an entirely legit way or a competent, strong belt or/and a strong musical theatre mix belt.

I'd be even more bored.  When she wants to protect someone - she is oh so verry careful.

Then she turns around and tries to pay off old wounds..

All w/out scandal.
