No, you can hear it as much as you want before June, 8 times a week if you desire...
I thought for sure sh-k-boom would get this.
I completely agree. Not sure how I feel about this. Because the music is so interspersed with the dialogue, I don't know I trust Masterworks as much as I would hope.

You don't think Yorkey/Kitt have some say in how the material is presented?! I doubt they just give them the score and say "Do us proud..." until they get to hear the recorded and edited version at a later date.
I'm very surprised this didn't go to Sh-K-Boom, especially since Brian Yorkey & Tom Kitt made a great cast album with them (Next to Normal). Masterworks definitely would not have been my first choice, but they have made some albums in the past that I have enjoyed, so I guess we'll see.
They also didn't include much dialogue on the next to normal cast album which I assume was Kitt and Yorkey's decision so I'm not expecting much here either.
While they don't have a perfect track record (they did the Chicago revival cast album, Kinky Boots, and the 1994 Grease album) they have had some good albums (Cabaret, 1992 Guys and Dolls, Marie Christine, Once on This Island, Parade, Ragtime)
But of course Ghostlight would have been a much better choice.
I wish I had the energy to focus on the differences between the different recording labels like you folks here. Interesting surmising.
Still, I'm always happy whenever any score is announced as being recorded!
^ I totally agree. I think that any show, no matter how bad, deserves to be recorded because it really is the only way of preserving a show.

What show has been recorded by all three labels so I can make a fair comparison?
I also really expected Ghostlight to record this. I also thought Masterworks Broadway would record CINDERELLA after Laura Osnes did a guest blog on their site about the show.
I'm also really excited to hear the full score. There were some songs from the D.C. tryout posted on YouTube and they really piqued my interest.

$$ speaks. No one should be surprised. Clearly, Masterworks offered the best distribution deal (I assume). Smart of Masterworks to presumably push hard and get this one. They'll try to capitalize on any residual "craze" over Idina in FROZEN. The kiddies will see her name on iTunes and not waste any time. They won't care about the show itself.

It's now available for pre-order. But I sure hope that is not the official album cover! I'd imagine they'd change it to "real" photos of all the cast, no?
After the reviews, lucky it is recorded at all.
What previous cast recording has been shelved because of theater critics?
"After the reviews, lucky it is recorded at all"
Why are people treating this like Scandalous, Spiderman, or Ghost? It wasn't universally panned.
What previous cast recording has been shelved because of theater critics?
Dr. Zhivago
Ghost was never recorded here. Spiderman had a known composing team connected with it plus the Spiderman fan base. Scandalous was probably done with a bit of Kathy Lee's money plus her fan base.
Re critics reaction killing a shows recording
Gantry - After it closed on opening night, RCA pulled the plug .
Shelter. The cast album was recorded and Columbia denied it. It was never released .
Her First Roman - Atlantic records never recorded it
Look To The Lillies - Warner Brothers cancelled plans to record it.
Breakfast At Tiffanys - RCA shelved their recording
Mata Hari - Same as above
Where is the proof it was directly the critics that canceled their recording plans? As opposed to being bad shows, producers not paying for the recording, or other factors?
All the shows mentioned were panned by critics. Less people will buy a recording if critics do not like it. Likewise if a show closes prematurely , less people see it so less potential buyers for their product.
... Except... If/Then was not universally panned by critics.
