I really like Ellen Page, John Cleese, Hugh Jackman, and David Bowie.
Nicole Kidman is a DEFINITE no. Seems like there's a better pick for Jack and The Witch, Cate Blanchette seems far too demure to be a witch IMO.

Okay, here's some much better picks:
INTO THE WOODS:
Witch: Madonna
Baker: Matthew Broderick
Baker's Wife: Toni Colette
Cinderella: Amy Adams
Cinderella's Prince: Patrick Wilson
Narrator/Mysterious Man: Christopher Walken
Jack: Graham Phillips
Little Red Riding Hood: Kelsey Fowler
Jack's Mother: Minnie Driver
Rapunzel's Prince: Brian D'Arcy James
Voice of the Wolf: Alan Rickman
Cinderella's Mother: Julie Andrews
Steward: Timothy Spall
Florinda: Leslie Kritzer
Lucinda: Leigh Ann Larkin
Stepmother: Catherine O'Hara
Voice of the Giant: Margo Martindale
WICKED:
Elphaba: Stephanie J. Block
Glinda: Amy Adams
Fiyero: James Marsden
Madame Morrible: Shirley MacLaine
The Wizard: Robin Williams
Nessarose: Katharine McPhee
Boq: Colin Hanks
Dr. Dillamond: Alan Rickman
I just had to read the first casting suggestion to know that the original poster's may have been flawed but yours is truly awful.
And to the person who thinks Kate Blanchett is too demure really needs to see more of her films.
I don't really love either cast list, but I have to say-- I would LOVE to see Amy Adams as either Galinda or Nessa. They'd have to bring some of the keys down if she was being Galinda, of course, but she would be marvelous. I can just see her doing "Popular." (And Christopher Walken as "Narrator/Mysterious Man" is grand.)
Also, I love David Bowie as the Wolf, Overkill.

Hex, specifically which of my choices do you hate?
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels:
Freddy: Jack Black
Lawrence: Kevin Kline
Christine: Anne Hathaway
Muriel: Megan Mullally
Christopher Lloyd as Dr. Dillamond is too perfect, and what about Steve Carrell as Panch in Spelling Bee
Broadway Legend Joined: 10/10/08
That DRS cast is perfection. Nice work.
Steve Carrell is all kinds of wrong for the Baker. However, I second the idea of Panch. THAT is a perfect casting choice if I've ever seen one.
I think the COMPANY cast would be fabulous. I would love to see Amy Poehler's take on Amy though instead of Sarah. She's a comic actress and "Not Getting Married" takes a highly comedic actress. And Amy Adams would be classic in the pot smoking scene.
INTO THE WOODS
I've thought about this for a while. I know it would never happen this way, but I would have almost all the cast be unknown actors under 25...this is the age range I'd place them all in:
Baker/Wife: Early 20s
Cinderella/Prince: Late teens/early 20s
Jack/Red: 15-17
Rapunzel/Prince: 15-18
Stepsisters: 18-20
with the rest of the roles being known actors, off the top of my head:
Witch: Anne Hathaway
Narrator/Mysterious Man: Jonathan Price
Jack's Mother: Julie Walters
Stepmother: Michelle Pfeiffer or Angelica Huston
I know Hathaway is unconventional for the witch, I'm not completly sure about it myself. I just figured she's a good actor, can sing and the script says the witch is reverted to a state of "youth and beauty", so it'd be nice to see what a younger actor would bring to the role.
URINETOWN- Directed by Robert Rodriguez or Tim Burton
Penny: Meryle Streep
Cladwell: Richard Gere
Lockstock: John Lithgow
Bobby: I have no idea....but it would probably end up being a Jonas brother.
Hope: Anne Hathaway
Little Sally: again, no idea. maybe she could be cgi and voiced by Lacey Chabert.
madbrain: I second that-- perfection!

Penelope Pennywise: Patti LuPone

Little Sally: Sarah Silverman

Hot Blades Harry: Fred Armisen
Becky Two-Shoes: Kirsten Wiig
Add William H. Macy as Mr. McQueen and I'm sold.
WICKED
Really depends if they go for realistically aged actors, or for squeezing names in left right and centre. My guess is the latter.
Elphaba - Idina Menzel
Glinda - Amy Adams
Fiyero - James Marsden
Morrible - Bette Midler or Meryl Streep
Wizard - Robert De Niro
Nessa - Emmy Rossum or Anne Hathaway
Boq - not sure?
However, I wouldn't be repulsed by the idea of Zooey Deschenel as Elphaba, or Robert Patterson as Fiyero. Come to think of it, recently I watched Zac Efron in Robot Chicken - in which he sang 'live' (i.e not edited) and he has a pretty damn strong voice there...of course if they go age-appropriate, the rest of the cast would need to be altered.

I love Zooey Deschanel, but her as Elphie would be a TRAINWRECK. Zooey's type may fit act one Elphaba, but there is no way she could sing those songs correctly. Elphaba calls for a belter, and Zooey's a quiet, quirky indie songstress.

I think everyone who has seen DRS has had the thought of Jack Black. The day after the tony awards, I posted that on IMDB. I saw it halfway through the number.
And I always thought Seth Rogan would be a good Brian in Avenue Q.
The OP has some pretty good ideas. The ITW cast aint that great but Terry Gilliam directing is amazing (wasn't he once attached to a film production of the show?).
The Ave Q and Spelling Bee ideas are genius. I'd love to see an Apatow Spelling Bee, although I don't know if the concept of the show would work on screen, I'm sure it could be overhauled to make sense in a celluloid world.
Same goes for Company and Assassins, both very extreme concept musicals. Company might work, you've got a cool cast up there, but I agree with switching Toni and Amy Poehler. The problem is the show jumps back and forward through time(?) like crazy (does anyone actually know the timeline of these people and what parts of the show are real or part of Bobby's imagination?)
Assassins, however, would never work on screen. It's too bizarre and dark and besides the musical numbers set in their respective eras everything else is set in this carnival limbo where people who weren't even alive at the same time are together, it's just too much of a theatrical device. However, again, good idea with the cast, cept I think everyone's a bit too old for their roles, no?
And everyone's Urinetown cast is wonderful.
Here's one for you:
Bat Boy: The Movie Musical
Edgar Parker/Bat Boy - ? (as long as it's not Zac Efron or a Jonas Brother or something...well, maybe Zac, but no Jonas)
Shelly Parker - Evan Rachel Wood
Meredith Parker - Ana Gasteyer
Dr. Parker - Bruce Cambell
Rev. Hightower - Cedric the Entertainer
Mrs. Taylor - Lea DeLaria
I reeeeally wanna see the Sam Mendes Cabaret on the big screen.
Sally - Catherine Zeta Jones (though she might be getting a bit too old for the role)
Emcee - Alan Cumming
Cliff - Patrick Wilson
Schneider - Hellen Mirren
Shultz - Joel Grey
Kost - Ana Gasteyer
Ludwig - John C Reilly
Yeah you're right actually, just checked out some Zooey singing - not right for Elphaba. I clearly have selective memory of her abilities!
What about IN THE HEIGHTS?
It's a hard one, because they may keep Lin and pick casts surrounding him...but I doubt they would. So it begs the question of whether they make it younger, or slightly older.
Usnavi?
Vanessa?
Benny?
Nina?
Sonny?
Any ideas?
I imagine Ana Ortiz from Ugly Betty being great in this, Jennifer Lopez has been mentioned - maybe a good Daniella? Eva Longoria perhaps?
I'm sure there are plenty of Latin actors and actresses who could star.
I didn't like the idea of Nicole Kidman as The Baker's Wife either really. I just threw a name out there.
I'm kind of proud of my Company casting. lol. I think Wes Anderson would make an amazing movie out of it.
As for Urinetown, I tried to come up with an idea for that, but the only person who I thought would be PERFECT for the part of Cladwell is Ken Jenkins who plays Dr. Bob Kelso on "Scrubs".
Bat Boy:
I second
Shelly Parker - Evan Rachel Wood
Meredith Parker - Ana Gasteyer
Rev. Hightower - Cedric the Entertainer
But then:
John C. McGinley as Dr. Parker
and have Deven May reprise his role as Bat Boy.
"And I always thought Seth Rogan would be a good Brian in Avenue Q."
I agree. That would be much better than Jeffrey Ross.
Bump?
I love hearing everyone's fantasy movie musical teams
The thing is - when a musical comes out in movie form, I only get excited if the people in it can reeeeally sing - and I mean in an appropriate fashion for the role/show they've been cast in. For instance, Zooey Deschanel is outstanding, love her as an actress, but for MT casting, she's not shown that side of her voice. From what I've heard, she'd be a good Squeaky Fromme in Assassins.
I love the idea of an Apatow Spelling Bee - I'd want it to involve Dan Fogler (now that he's a 'movie star') and Jesse Tyler Ferguson!
How about a Joss Whedon - helmed Bat Boy? I think he's the right end of kooky, sci-fi nerd with a love of MT... plus he's good at casting proper MT people in things (Neil Patrick Harris in Dr Horrible...ooh i love it!)
