Would you want them to revive it and remain faithful to the original intention of playing it straight and perhaps improve it with some new songs?

Or would you prefer that they kept a lot of it the way it was but really camp it up similarly to what they did with Xanadu?

I never saw the original production and have only seen bootleg footage, but I can't help but think that it has gained a cult following because so many of us are intrigued by it as so few actually saw it.

I think it could work if they made it into a tribute/parody of the original Broadway version. I would love them to keep some of the original choreography especially the opening number 'IN'.

I would be very keen to hear everyone's opinions, especially those who have seen the original performed in the theater.

I would love to see a straight production. Not camped up all the way through. I think the high school numbers are decent, but just incredibly bad in terms of direction and design. I'm not sure if it would work, but the home scenes are so powerful, I would hate to see it camped up without at least trying a better dramatic version.

Does anyone know how it was staged at Stagedoor Manor? And if that version was good?

With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-

I just wonder if there is enough decent material in the show for a straight production to work?

Stagedoor was a lot like a very, very, very scaled down version of Broadway (same script, basic direction down to the trap door in the White's floorboards).

I'd like to see it done straight with GOOD direction and design, and a bit more book. Using elements of the Workshop script, it could work.

I'd be there every night if they cast it right.
What a Score!

The original film/book was set in the 70's but from what I can see of the musical it was set in the 80's. Do you think it should be set in the present, 70s or 80s? The music sounds very 80s to me.

'Don't waste the moon' - do you think this was an intentional homage to the 'Fame' song when they dance on the taxi? Or does Debbie Allen just really dig car top dancing?

I have a feeling in my waters that something is going to happen soon. I have heard that there is a potential workshop in the west end but I just have a feeling that they will also mount a full production somewhere soon.

I think it is time.

I don't think it needs new songs. There was nothing really wrong with the score.

The show needs to be done in it's straightforward way. I believe if they utilize the workshop script, have a director with a good intentions, and a great cast then the show would do well. The musical numbers should remain the same.

Curtain, I do believe Kaitlin would be great, but Haven Burton? Not sure if she has the look for Carrie.

This summer for BC/EFA I am directing a one night only concert version of Carrie, with full permission from Dean Pitchford and Michael Gore. They are becoming more lenient with Carrie inquiries and such.

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

Prefer it straight, not campy. Scary rather. Don't change a thing between Carrie and Mrs. White. Some updating on the high school songs.

Alice Ripley as Mrs. White. Her harsh belting voice and angelic soprano is PERFECT for "Eve Was Weak" "I Remember" "Evening Prayers"

They should't revive it. They should just bury it in an unmarked grave, and move on to shows that deserve to be revived.

Folks, CARRIE is a piece of junk. JUNK. To put it politely. Sometimes shows bomb because THEY SUCK. Deal with it.

It had a great score with a few exceptions

Ditch Wotta Night, Out For Blood, Im Not Alone

funk up Dont Waste The Moon, In, Do Me A Favour

Give the sets a location rather than a design simplicity like the original

Go back to the workshop production and beef the book up to what it was in the 84 workshop

Let the effects help with the story instead of hinder it (i remember laughing at the prom scene in the show when i watched it in stratford and when i watch it back on the various dvds)

There is huge potential for this show to be a hit

Oh and keep it set in the late 70s early 80s

Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna

My ideal casting at this point would be Carolee Carmello as Margaret White, and Celia Keenan-Bolger as Carrie. That would be beyond amazing.
