I really enjoyed this show and I'm gonna miss it a lot. It was one of those shows where you could go in feeling lousy and come out happy. I'll be there next week to say one last goodbye.
Still can't believe it's closing. Thoughts?
I won't miss it simply because I'm seeing the tour two weeks after it closes on Broadway. Tee hee.
But seriously, I love the show and it will be greatly missed.
In 50 years, LB won't even be a blip on the radar that is Broadway history.
LOL
Will any of the musicals created in the past two years?
Right here. Right now. I love this show and love the fact that it can make me laugh and love and smile like no other. That's its legacy to me, and fifty years from now I'll still look back on it and smile.

In one week, Legally Blonde will be a piece of Broadway's past. (History - doubtful)
Though, maybe as a Snapple funfact for being taped for MTV. Sure, it was a decent, make you feel good show, but nothing really historic.
Robert, you are aware that when you edit a post the time is added too.... right?
I know, in my mind I was thinking musicals but put "show" instead, and I updated it after you corrected me. It was my bad.
The last 2 years have been a musical craptacular.

Did Laura Bell forget her makeup again? Or is it Orfeh with Makeup?
Just kidding, I love you Orfeh. PLEASE DON'T HURT ME!!!
It was a cute show, but I don't really see it as making a huge impact to the theater world. In my opinion, it will be remembered for a little while, but that's about it. I don't see it having the staying power like other shows.
That being said, I saw it on MTV when it was on, and I was not overly impressed. But, it's cool if you did really enjoy it.
I don't think there are too many televised b'way shows that have made an impact on me. I was pretty bored with the MTV broadcast...and even lamenting that I was bringing my 8th graders from Boston to see it a few weeks later. I was, however, really, REALLY pleasantly suprised by the live performance.
Meaningful? Not really. Terribly original? Nope. Worth seeing multiple times? Not for me. Entertaining? As hell!
I admit: I am not one to get all worked up over shows closing. That's what happens. (Unless you happen to be Phantom.) Disappointing if I hadn't had a chance to see something I wanted to...but no biggie. (Of course TWICE in the last few months I've missed opportunities due to closing. My kids lost out on seeing Xanadu -- on stage no less. Damn them for changing the closing date. And they closed Passing Strange about 10 days before I was suppose to see it.
Its a fun show which gave you a great night out...that was its objective, objective achieved
Now bring on the West End Production

In may be a "peice" of Broadway history in a week- till then it's just a "Peice" of....
It's going to live on for quite some time, because this show is going to be VERY popular in community, college, and high school theaters. Regionally, this show is going to be everywhere in the next two years.

...Unfortunately.
I'm holding out for the revival with Christina Applegate, though!

Spring Awakening
Curtains
Xanadu
In the Heights
Billy Elliot
will no doubt make the history books.

As will "Grey Gardens"
'Xanadu', in the history books? WHY? Because it turned out a zillion times better than anticipated? With such inauspicious beginnings, it would have had to suck harder than the conbined contents of 'Not Since Carrie' to have turned out as people anticipated. That doesn't somehow magically make it a brilliant piece of theatre with massive historical significance.
I also expect 'Curtains' will be little more than a "final Kander & Ebb show"-based footnote when it comes to these history books.
I'll agree that 'Billy Elliot', 'Spring Awakening' and 'In the Heights' will make the history books though, even if it is just as part of a list of Best Musical Tony winners in the case of the latter two.
I will probably go see the tour when it comes upstate (rochester/buffalo/whatever) so that's cool, though I'm sad that I didn't get to see Nicolette's Brooke one last time. And I kind of wanted to see Bailey too.
