I was thinking the same thing. Also, he continues to mention throughout the video that L.A. is the first city to get the show direct from Broadway; after the first couple of times it got annoying. Love the footage with Victoria Clark, though. Bernadette Peters seemed to look the part more, but Victoria Clark seems to have the better voice and characterization.

I'm going to personally bitch-slap Michael Sterling from here to eternity and hell and back when I see him next - THIRTY YEARS? How hard is to know it's been FORTY years? It's pretty shocking how many of the "guests" have never seen Follies.

That doesn't surprise me too much--when was it last given a major production in LA? It's not exactly performed constantly. But yeah I think Sterling's facelifts have gotten to his brain or something--and then why continue to ask people who just said they'd never seen it before questions like "Don't you think this show lives up to some of the most amazing theatre ever" etc?

(And I just realized the voiceover--who may be Sterling but I don't think so--even claims this production *opened* on Broadway in January 2012... Sigh)

Well, I just have to bitch about everything.

First, why mention 'the most beautiful theatre in LA' (Dorothy Chandler) and not show it? And why choose the side of the fountain with the sun behind you and the DWP building as a backdrop, when the other side of the fountain would light your face and give you LA landmarks in the BG?

Okay. I should maybe relax about this.

I think you guys are being a bit harsh. I was expecting much worse here. I will say that girlfriend perhaps forgot to tone down her makeup after the matinee of her drag show, but other than that he seemed like a pretty personable guy and his interactions with the stars on the red carpet weren't too painful.

People being too harsh, on here? :P You're right, of course, and he was personable. He didn't have to keep telling them how much he adored this show he didn't seem to know too much about, but :P
