I've always taken it that the Wolf and Lady Giant corrupt, if you will, both Little Red and Jack. Different experiences for each character, but the same results. Losing ones virginity changes you, however it happens.
That said, both actors should roughly be the same age.
^Good point . I feel like there will be a slight nod to it, and those who know to look for it will be able to see it, but it will go over the head of those who don't know.
This article on Fandango thinks that Kendrick's shoes will be glass instead of gold. It also says that Pine will be playing her Prince instead of Gyllenhaal.
Disney might make the whole thing with Little Red very metaphorical, it'd be impossible for the sexual innuendo to be gone without cutting "Hello, Little Girl," that's what that song is about, how much they choose to make the subtext the text is up to them. I will say there is something to leaving it just as subtext, it goes hand in hand with Lapine and Sondheim's use of fairy tales as tools to talk about other things. We all know it's about sexual awakening, but making it literal kind of takes away from the fun of how suggestive both "Hello, Little Girls" and "I Know Things Now" are; honestly, when I hear about how the SitP production handled it, I think it's a shame they didn't trust the material enough to remain subtle.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
Rapunzel is probably the only role in this entire movie musical that needs to be a trained singer, because her beautiful voice is actually part of the story.
She may have a small singing role in the film ("Aaaaaaaah!"), but those "Ahhs!" need to be absolutely beautiful. The Witch is enthralled and lulled by them, and the prince falls in love with her when he hears her singing from the tower.
So please, Mr. Rob Marshall, do right by the plot and character and don't cast some big movie star who sounds like a corseted mosquito. Give us a Rapunzel with golden pipes.

After just seeing the 75th Anniversary IMAX 3D trailer for 'The Wizard of Oz' I began to think about what would have happened if Gale Sondergaard had stayed on to play the Wicked Witch instead of Margaret Hamiltion. Then I thought maybe Disney might go the route of making Meryl a glamorous witch during the second half of this film like Sondergaard was originally suppose to be in 'The Wizard of Oz'.
This is was the original look for the Wicked Witch and maybe this is route that Disney will take.
They also did something similar with Rachel Weisz in 'Oz the Great and Powerful'.
According to IMDB these were the actors and actresses considered for the roles:
Witch: Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michelle Pfeiffer, Penélope Cruz, Donna Murphy, Idina Menzel, Miranda Richardson, Kate Winslet and Nicole Kidman were considered for the Witch.
Baker:Matthew Broderick, Andrew Rannells, Colin Firth, Johnny Depp, Denis O'Hare and Jim Carrey were considered for the Baker.
I would have LOVED to see Nicole as the witch. Idina is an inspired choice also! Jim Carrey as Baker? weird. Broderick would be great.

However, part of the reason Sondergaard supposedly left the film was that they realized the glamorous look was wrong and ordered new make up and screen tests with her as a hag, which she did not like at all.
I also love Margaret Hamilton's story of when her agent called her to let her know that she was being offered the role. She tells the story herself starting at about 1:45 in this clip.
As for the IMDB list, like any long gestating project (especially with musicals) you'll find a long, long list of actors and actresses who have been considered for the major roles at one point or another by the various producers and directors who may or may not even be attached to the film by the time it actually begins filming. And, as somebody has pointed out, the trivia section is much like Wikipedia. Anybody can submit names that they heard were rumored or considered at one point.
"However, part of the reason Sondergaard supposedly left the film was that they realized the glamorous look was wrong and ordered new make up and screen tests with her as a hag, which she did not like at all."
I remember hearing that on the behind the scenes version. But I think Disney might make the Witch glamorous during the second half of this film like the original concept for Sondergaard and Evanora in 'Oz the Great and Powerful'.
Yes, when Sondergaard was going to play the witch, they were going for a "Wicked Queen" look from Snow White. After all, it was the (monster) success of Snow White that put The Wizard of Oz into production at MGM. Suddenly, children's fantasy was a golden genre (at least potentially). So they thought they could try to get away with having the Wicked With of the West be more like the Wicked Queen.
Thankfully, somewhere along the way, they changed their minds. I'm guessing that withe a good witch who was already beautiful, it didn't make sense for the bad witch to be beautiful as well. (Plus, it's clear in Oz that "bad witches are ugly!")
So they tested Sondergaard in the hag makeup, and it just didn't work. She looked like a pretty lady made up to be a hag, and I'm sure she still had her "catlike" persona to go with it. She was a wonderful (Oscar-winning) actress, and played "evil" really well. Had this been Snow White, she would have been the perfect Wicked Queen back then.
So she dropped out of the movie, and they went with Margaret Hamilton.
THANK GOD.

Even though Kendrick is probably still in negotiations, we can probably forget about the rumor of Jewel playing Cinderella. She's just signed on to be a judge on the next season of 'The Sing-Off'.
If for some reason Christine Baranski doesn't sign on the doted line for Cinderella's Stepmother, I think Miranda Richardson would be a great choice as well.

^ Exactly. And that's why a Catherine Zeta-Jones transformation would have been stunning. Very curious to see how they'll style Streep. She's not as obvious of a beauty as CZJ (or Vanessa Williams who did it on stage.)
