Bridie Carroll will be playing Tracy Turnblad in the Regional Theatre Premiere of HAIRSPRAY at North Shore Music Theatre.
Bridie was last seen in Bye Bye Birdie (Rosie), 42nd Street (Anytime Annie), and I Love A Piano (Sadie). She received a BFA cum laude from The Boston Conservatory in 2005. Other credits include: City of Angels (Oolie/ Donna), The Rivals (Lucy), You’re A… Charlie Brown (Lucy), Anything Goes (Bonnie), and Forward (original cast recording).

Posted: 9/22/06 at 10:19pmI remember Bridie from Boston Conservatory.. she just graduated last year... she's maybe 23 and perfect for the role. She is not extra heavy, but she is not thin.. she's chunky. Don't they pad most Tracys? I know they padded Carly Jibson.

Posted: 9/22/06 at 10:32pmI am glad they got Paul Vogt for Edna. My friends say he was so funny in vegas. anyone know anyone else in the cast.. Playbill just teased us today with these 2 castings... NSMT PUBLICITY... SPILL IT!!!! HA HA HA .. cant hurt to ask!

So (excuse my complete ignorance) this is a regional production correct?
So they dont need to follow Broadway staging etc...
I would love to see this production, especially for Vogt.

I dont know how pregressive it is... have you noticed all the productions of CHICAGO and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST there ar eout there?
It is wicked cool NSMT is the first to do this regionally. They do awsome stuff there. It will be very interesting to see what they do to the show and to see things in the round. I was not a fan of "In the round" but now that I have seen some shows there... I am converted. I only wish I saw MISS SAIGON there. I saw JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR there last night and the girl playing Mary was Kim there and I just imagine her being so great in the role. The subscriber sitting next to me RAVED about her in Saigon for like 10 minutes before the show. As for JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR... holy Christ Batman ... it was off the hook incredible. I hope this does really well for them as it is one of the best shows I have ever seen in this area.
There is a video clip on ou Tube .. it is good .. but doe not do ANY justice compared to seeing this show live. By the way... I am thinking of divorcing TiVo and shacking up with YouTube... I love it that much!!!!!

Posted: 9/23/06 at 9:11amI am sure this production will be very well done. They went after alot of names from within "Hairspray," and I see they got one in Vogt (they offered Tracy to Katrina Rose Dideriksen of the Vegas production, but she turned it down.)
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.

Posted: 9/23/06 at 10:53amExactly. Even though the girls they hire for 'Tracy' are heavy-set, alot of them do not have the proportions they want, mostly on the rear-end section. You'll notice the padded-girdle whenever the 'padded' Tracy does any spins.

Posted: 9/23/06 at 12:32pmever since madtv i have thougt paul vogt would be a terrific edna. its a shame he is not a bigger name...he could have kept the las vegas production up..im sure he will be more than wonderful. as for tracy im sure she is good..who knows? although NSMT is known so they would not just pick someone bad...she did look a little old though but that could have been due to bad lightng or what not.

Looking at the high-res picture on the website, the photograph of Tracy above is very touched up. Maybe the tried making her look older for the promo shots?
I'm excited for this performance though.
