You forgot the first show of the season: SPIDER-MAN TURN OFF THE DARK.
Featured Actor Joined: 9/8/08
And there's a possibility of DETROIT coming in:

Thanks for that. Somehow I completely missed any information about that show.
God, there's a shortage of musicals this year!
I hope you can add Porgy & Bess to your list soon.
I hope so too. I didn't think that was a definite yet.
Prince of Broadway is definite though, right?
That's not scheduled until next season, though.
I know there's no official start date yet, but they were looking at spring of 2012 for Evita, right?
Isn't REBECCA also coming ("again"), expected for this season?

You also forgot that ELF will be returning, and Funny Girl will be opening in the spring.
Also look for ROBIN AND THE SEVEN HOODS, Casey is trying to get it on the fast track for the Fall.
Which will be a new Musical.
So, is there one particular show that is starting to garner all the buzz for opening next season?
Does anyone think the lack of musicals will help this season's musicals stay open longer?
It always seems to be feast or famine where musicals are concerned.
Last season was bountiful, the season before was barren.
There's not one show this season I'm excited about.
"So, is there one particular show that is starting to garner all the buzz for opening next season?"
iabwayfan, the most buzzed about shows I can think of are Venus in Fur and Follies. Follies because it's Follies; Venus in Fur because people have fallen in love with Nina Arianda and/or really liked the Off-Broadway run.
Well, and Spider-Man, too, but for the wrong reasons.

Hardly any new musicals if your list is accurate. I think that's a sad state of affairs.
How 'bout PRINCE HAL AND THE SHOWGIRL?
Bill T. Jones is currently doing a development workshop for Super Fly the Musical, but don't know if they are trying to fast track it to Broadway this season or what the plans are.
A lot of what's been mentioned in this thread is no more than wishful thinking at this stage. You might as well add Yank, [title of show 2], My Mother's Behind, the Musical, and What Have You Done To Yourself?, the Jocelyn Lowenstein Musical while you're at it.
Happy to say Porgy and Bess can be added onto the list :)

I feel like that always happens in the fall. Most new musicals wait until the spring to open, so they aren't announced until later in the season. Wait until January, then start moaning about the lack of new musicals.
Is the Steppenwolf VIRGINIA WOOLF not coming? I remember reading it was...
