“Well she sounds more deserving of the award than Patina for playing a role that was made famously by the great Ben Vereen, besides hasn't her leading performances in Bonnie and Clyde and Pipe Dream already enough to prove that she's a versatile leading lady, more so than Patina?”
I haven’t seen either “Pippin” or “Cinderella,” so I have no opinion on who should win, but just because Laura has had a chance to show her versatility more than Patina doesn’t mean she deserves to win the Tony for this role. The Tony isn’t based off of who is giving a more versatile performance than their past performances, it’s who is giving the best performance in their current roles. (I recognize some Tony voters may be influenced by having seen the actresses in other shows, but, especially based on looking at versatility, I don’t think either “deserves” it more than the other.) Not to mention that just because some actresses may not be as versatile as others doesn’t mean that their performance can’t be better than a more versatile actress.
^Well it's just that I feel that Patina Miller is very overrated. I don't know what it is but every time Miller is onstage she just sucks the energy out of anything she is in, for example her performance in Sister Act was, to me, robotic and dull. Plus she wasn't even in the same league with Marla Mindelle. And I'm sure some people may say the same thing about her performance in Pippin. I do understand what you mean and I thank you for that, it's just that I cannot, I repeat, CANNOT stand Miller. But if I ever have the chance to go see Pippin, I'll try to give her a chance, but it won't be easy.

Patina is mostly getting RAVE reviews for her performance as the the leading player. I am sure you will love her. She didn't just copycat Ben Vereen's iconic performance, she made it her own and Most people on here who have seen it have said that she is fantastic. Now that the 10 year olds are out of the way, nothing will stop patina from getting that Tony.
^Thanks broadway guy, it's such a relief to hear that she's maybe out of her annoying usual comfort zone for once. :)

I haven't seen Pippin yet but I hear she is dazzling. I find patina to be very charismatic. I didn't see her in Sister Act so i can't comment on her "comfort zone" but it looks like Patina is doing a few gymnastic tricks in the show,so i would say thats pretty out of her comfort zone.

"Can i just add that yes Bonnie Parker was Laura Osnes last role and yes Cinderella should be a complete departure from that...
...yet somehow LO managed to play them the exact same way."
Broadwaybabe, that's an outragous statement. In B&C, Laura (as Bonnie)slapped her male lead in the face, seduced him in song while half nude, cried, stood up to abuse by a jail guard, etc., etc. If you don't like her acting, that's fine. Just don't present a distorted picture to support your otherwise legitimate feelings.

mmmk That's fine. When she does win the tony (which she will) i will come back to this comment and laugh my ass off. Im pretty sure 95 percent of the posters on here will agree with me that Patina will be winning the tony. It's fine if you don't agree, but you are going to look really dumb on tony night.
That may or not be true broadwayguy but you look dumb now and will then since you haven't even seen her!!! ... you fail.

If you read through all 200 comments on this thread you will find that Many on here are predicting her to win so....NO i don't look dumb at all cause most agree with me,fool.
Im going to look dumb when Patina wins? HAHAH Yeah, I'll look like a HUGE dumbass. HAHAHAAHAHAH.
You look dumb for praising and vehemently defending a performance you haven't even seen.

I wouldn't say "Vehemently Defending". Most of the info i get about her performance is from the people on here and the reviews I have read. At this point i would be crazy to not be predicting her for the tony.
Kelly Vehemently defending sounds about right. Its also why he loves justin beiber too after hearing the girls in te school yard he hangs outside of praising him
That's uncalled for

You caught me suestorm....
It's sad how someone who prides herself on not doing anything unprovoked and "love conquers all" and all that would stoop that low when unprovoked.
Uh oh, I hope I didn't cause any bad arguements here. If I did, I apologize.

You are free of sin my child.
^Thanks :)
I know this discussion was more than a year ago, but I was just looking through it and wanted to voice my opinion. I personally thought the two head runners were Carolee and Patina. I personally believed Carolee deserved the Tony. Patina was wonderful in Pippin and she was absolutely funny, but Carolee (as many have said) carried the show on her back, sang the hell out of the score, showed real emotion, brought life to boring scenes, and made something good of a bad show. I'm glad Patina won, but I really wished Carolee had. And anyone who says she did a horrible acting job in Scandalous is crazy.
I don't think people were negative about Carolee in Scandalous, just that the show was awful.
