Rue got a RAVE in the NYTimes a few weeks ago, unlike leads Shoshana Bean and Megan Hilty. But of course, I sheepishly bring up something negative about those two apparant goddesses on THIS board.

I saw the show last night. She sang talked but was very funny and crazy. A good part but is it just me or does she act drunk?

I'm hoping to see it Weds, I really don't care if she's bad. She's one of my favorites, and I guess if you like a particular actor, you try to find something good in any role they do.

Plus, she's getting up there in age and sometimes these thing show (voice etc). It's something they can't help.

I wish I saw Bea Authur's one-woman show. I think she's much older than Rue M, and Bea's voice is much worse. I just wanted to see how she performs nowadays. Even on the GG, sometimes Bea seemed like she didn't have enough breath to finish a senteance...or was that how she wanted to play the character?

You either got it or you ain't, and boys I got it!

i didn't like her. she didn't sing, except on one line (you'll be making good) she attempted and failed miserably. she also squeaked sooo annoyingly throughout the whole show. *shudder* i just didn't like her at all. JMO though.

Why don't you refer to one of your 20 thousand Wicked cast recordings?

I didn't care for her. I wouldn't say that she was horrible but I was very disappointed.

i heard such terrible things about her and such wonderful things about ben vereen...i ended up loving her and hating vereen...so, you'll have to make up your own mind...and just because she was on a tv show, doesn't mean she's going to be good...she is, and i like her, but come on...

You can tell about her age. Last time I saw her, she looked sickly and I actually felt bad that she had a show to do. Looking like "death warmed-over" is never a good sign. But then again M. Morrible is supposed to be pretty old.

Rue did look pretty bad, she didnt come out stage door which pissed off a couple people who came to see her. She did try to sing but failed. It looks like she is near death or something.

Yeah he was. He came out right and we clapped alittle and he goes "thats it and" and egged us on to do more and we did alittle better then he went back in and came back out and we cheered and he was happy.

i didn't like vereen because he seems to me, to be a performer who totally breaks character just to "impress" and wow the audience...that kind of behavior and acting, although very popular with some, just annoys the hell out of me...it's like, i can see the wheels in his head, I can see him saying, "this has NOTHING to do with my character or the scene or the plot, or ANYTHING for that matter, but the audience will LOOOOVE it..." and I just can't stand it...his voice wasn't bad though...hehe

I honestly thought she did pretty good. I was expecting the worst, but was pleasantly surprised.

Rue is awful! Her voice is grating and she brings nothing to the character of Madame Morrible. Her voice (both speaking and "singing") is painful to listen to and the character should be a commanding presence on stage, Rue is anything but that.

Whatever happened to class?

Vincent - once again I have to say you totally agree!! I couldn't have said it better.

Rue, as Blanche, was my favorite Golden Girl, but still I didn't like her Morrible that much. She had her moments, but there were only two or three of them. Not my cup of tea. I saw her u/s (or is she a stand-by?) Adinah Alexander do the role a couple of days later, and I have to say that she was much better in the role.
