I was just wondering what people thought about this question:
Is Wicked still good?
This summer some of my family and I will be going to NYC for a few days and I've always wanted to see Wicked. Since the show has gone through a few casts I was wondering what you guys thought. I don't want my parents to spend a butt load of $$ on tickets if it isnt even worth it. Thanks for your help.

You'll probably get all kinds of opinions, as there are hardcore fans and those who are sick of those who make it seem there was no theatre before this show.
My opinion is that it is a well done show and you will enjoy it.
The cast is good, and it is still good time to go see it.

Posted: 9/13/05 at 6:51pmYou know, I had a chance to view the national tour of Wicked this summer, and I say it's very good-but it's also very overrated. I have not seen the current Broadway cast, but I haven't heard a lot of great stuff about them.

Everyone has an opinion, but I think it's an enjoyable, fun show. To me, yes, it's worth it.

Posted: 9/13/05 at 6:55pmI've yet to see the current cast, but it's supposed to be really great. Shoshana is amazing as Elphaba, I saw her as standby for Idina. Megan is supposed to be a great Glinda, too. The only cast member most people have problems with is Rue McLanahan as Madame Morrible. However, I haven't really seen her yet so I can't comment.

on stage Rue acts like she's drunk (i often wonder if she is...) and she does NOT sing any of her, what? 3 sung lines. she does these weird things with her voice, basically sounds like a 11 yr old boy going through puberty. i am not a fan of her madame morrible.
The show for the most part is still enjoyable. I agree with everyone else, diff people will have diff opinions of the actors in the show now, but it's worth seeing if you've always wanted to see it, like you said.

Well if you're going this coming Summer, there will be quite a few cast changes. Many of the current cast is leaving January 8th, i.e. Shoshana, Rue, Ben, Michelle, and possibly David. So to make a long story short, you'd be seeing, more or less, a brand new cast.

Posted: 9/13/05 at 7:19pmIMO, the show is still amazing, but not the two leads. Shoshanna isn't that strong, and her acting isn't good, and Megan can't sing well, her high notes are horrible. They also show no emotion. Maybe when you go you will see a better cast.

I, personally, think it's wonderful. If you love Wicked, your money will be worth it! (unless the leads suck by then or something, but i doubt it)
Oh, and Little Wing... about Rue... that was the most perfect description I've ever read.

I saw the current Broadway cast in April, and enjoyed it.
Did it live up to the book (which you, like most have probably not read)...NO.
But it's a fun show, go see it.

No, the show is only held together by Megan.
IMO

It has its moments, but I found the sudden switches from a serious dialogue to just telling jokes in the same scene rather distracting.
And, as stated before, the book is by far better than the musical.
Finally, I'm aware that your interest is in Wicked, but there are quite a few other shows on Broadway right now (and hopefully still next summer) that are also worth checking out (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels comes to mind).

Posted: 9/13/05 at 9:45pmAna sings the part of Elphaba incredibly well. She is absolutely stunning in the role. I was shocked when I saw her how great she really was. The current Bway cast is really good. I have problems with Rue, but it doesn't detract from the show to me.

I thought Ana sounded spectacular. Not that I have heard her...*cough*limewire*cough* I still have my fingers crossed for January.
So, Rue makes a horrible Morrible? I figured as much. Why would they cast someone who doesn't sing? Name recognition?
