Right? When people don't get that - or when they don't get that Jessica Lange is winning the Tony - I'm all like -
PEOPLE get that, but you don't seem to. She has a one in five chance....just like everyone else nominated. That's a "good chance". Will she win? I don't know. I do know that there are at least two other women also giving great performances. (I'm sure they all are...I just haven't seen them all.)
Any edge she has is that it is an absolute bear of a role.

I get more than you apparently know. I'm not just some nutjob fan pushing for her to win. Top critics and pundits are predicting her. Don't you get that? I'm sorry if you don't. She's the most accomplished, worthy actress in her lineup (and others, for that matter).
In Hollywood she's second only to Meryl Streep. That counts for A LOT. In New York, LA and everywhere, really.
So, yeah.

The Hollywood Reporter just decided to randomly publish their picks for her "Top 10 Performances" in Film/TV. I guess the campaigning has begun. Oops. I wonder what that means...

Scott Heller in N.Y. Times: ''Can you NOT win a Tony playing Mary Tyrone?''
Yes, you can. Florence Eldridge (1957), Bethel Leslie (1986) and Colleen Dewhurst (1988 ) all lost.
Only Vanessa Redgrave (2003) has won a Tony for playing Mary Tyrone.
But I'll bet Jessica Lange will be the next one to win.

LoL. I'm not one of these theater queen/jokes who'll pine for an autograph from a Divine Legend like Jessica Lange.
I would never dare to. First off, I'd make a fool of myself by breaking down in tears. Second of all, Mama Lange demands her privacy. She's a mercurial, fragile creature. I would never dare impose upon her privacy.
I'll save that to... others.

Block feature!
Besides, once Lupita wins I think this rather unstable person will leave the boards.

Can't some of you find a more dignified way of making yourselves feel better?
I mean, seriously, if you don't believe Lange will or don't want her to win, then express who you'd like to win, think will win and why.
Trying to thrash me with insults (i.e. deflecting from the topic at hand)... well -
This isn't a "topic" thread. There is no discussion to be had.
You say she'll win and aren't willing to consider anything else.
What exactly would you like to discuss?

Yeah, I second that.
Talk about needing a thread removed.

Please excuse the fervency with which I express my admiration for Ms. Lange and for wanting her to win. That being said, there's a chance she won't win, however small. I'm willing to accept that and consider it a realistic possibility.
If Lange doesn't win, I think Williams - astonishing, really - has it in the bag. Lupita, I don't believe, is happening. It's a supporting role and she isn't as good as Lange and Williams.
Personally, this is my ranking:
1. Lange
2. Williams
3. Okonedo
4. Metcalf
5. Nyong'o
Mind you, I didn't rank Lupita last because she isn't great - she is - but because it's not a leading role. She belongs in Featured where she would be #1 or #2.
There's plenty to discuss, when both sides are mature and respectful.
When I "fanboy" I know I can get ridiculous, but I'm aware of that. That's what a "fangirl/fanboy" is, lol. That doesn't mean I have no intelligence, insights or reasoning abilities of my own. Sheesh.

Your own prideful, embittered replies give me LIFE.
I'd go with "a proud grandma of three boys".
I came on here to say that after seeing the performance this afternoon, I agree she i the front runner for the Tony.
But after reading this thread I'm horrified.

Mark-Alexis, you remind me of a Goldderby user who also frequently posted annoying GIFs of Jessica Lange.
So if you are the same person: I hope Jessica Lange loses to anyone else.
Haven't used the block feature in a while. No time like the present. :)
