Her speech was the best part of the entire evening! I burst into applause when they called her name.

Poor wine glass! And I'll be on that plane with you, ray.
YAY JULIE!! I am still so excited. Is there any way to mail her a huge card of congrats?? She is amazing.
<--in response to being.jeremiah
Hehe, why break the wine glass when you can drink it like I did when she won?
Bwaybaby, glad I found a plane partner
I can't wait to see her opening monologue.
I knew it all along! I was intensely happy.

Haha, now I can't find the article about California....any idea where it is? I'm fairly sure that the CA mounting is not a figment of my imagination...

She was so funny during her speech, I was glad to see a "non-legend" winning this Award.

I knew she would win (and she DESERVED to win) the moment that the nominations came out and A Moon For The Misbegotten only got one nomination. I loved Eve Best, Vanessa Redgrave, Angela Lansbury and Swoosie Kurtz, but Julie's was the best performance by an actress this past season on broadway.
And had there been an award for Best Acceptance Speech, she certainly would have won that award as well!!
I hope this opens up her career and we see more of her!
Extraodinary performer - I was so excited that I had tears in my eyes! Hopefully this is just the beginning of a long, illustrious Broadway career.
This was the one award that I really cared about because Julie gave such an amazing performance. I was so happy that she won. I think this is the one award that all of us on BWW agree on. She totally earned that Tony and hopefully she will be back on the Broadway stage soon.
Totally thrilled for Julie, but totally sad she is now contracted to do that CAVEMAN sit-com and unable to re-open The Little Dog Laughed on a tour. WAAHHHHH!!!!
Love her! Loved her speech! Anyone that refers to a Tony as chotchki gets an A in my book...she was hysterical! CONGRATS TO HER!!!
Betty, somehow I don't think that Caveman thing will have anyone tied up for long.
bjh2114, I agree that this is one award that we all feel the same way about.
I would have loved to see Julie perform her opening monologue at Radio City Music Hall. She has one powerful presence, and seeing her win a Tony last night was beyond exciting! I can't wait to see her back on stage!

Did she do her opening monologue from the show, the "awards ceremony" one?
What did she say in her speech?

I wish they had showed more of the show because the little clip they showed wasn't all that interesting to look at. It was just Julia on a black background, although I found the clip hilarious. The show seems hilarious and I wish I could have seen it. And the fact that she missed a show because she was out buying things at Bed Bath and Beyond is so funny too. I love her.
i just wanted to add i LOVED her speech, and im so glad she won
and im uploading her Tony speech onto Youtube right now, and once its finished, ill post a link here :)

*The theatre they were stuck with was a barn. WAY too big for that play. Not to mention that it's in the most out of the way/out of view location of any Broadway theatre.
The CORT is FAR from a barn.
This was the win I was most excited about! Thank God the Tony voters got this one right! She gave by far my favorite performance of the season and deserved that award entirely. I was jumping up and down on the couch when she won!
Is she reprising her role in California somewhere or am I just confused?
