No need to yell and call names. I said, to each his own interpretation, and that includes yours.
I'm not yelling. I used ALL CAPS to emphasize my opinion that any discussion of age being a factor here is BEYOND STUPID.

AND I SAID that you're entitled to your interpretation without calling it BEYOND STUPID. Jeeze, what do you want from me, card tricks? I'm just trying to be civil.
"Jesus Christ.
IT DOESN'T MATTER! They're doing this for Ellen Greene! Who do you think they should cast next to her? Another 64 year old? Obviously, they're asking you to believe she's playing it 30 years younger. I honest to God can't believe the stupidity in this thread over something like this."
Thank you. This was starting to annoy the **** out of me.

I don't care about the age gap, it never really occurred to me to be a problem til it all kicked off here. I bought tickets to see Ellen Greene, getting Gyllenhottie is just a bonus.

Couldn't have said it better.
I'm so happy to be able to see Ellen Greene perform. The fact that it's in Little Shop is just amazing.

Who the hell can't see this as anything but fun? Jeez, some people just don't have enjoyment gene.
Easy solution...swap Ellen Greene for Taylor Swift.
There. Done.

It doesn't matter, all tickets were gone now. I'm so glad I managed to score 2 tickets for the matinee yesterday. The cheapest ticket on stubhub is now 300 bucks!
Move over Hamilton, here comes the hottest show in town!
People are going to return their tickets once they see there's an age difference between the two actors.
Move over Hamilton, here comes the hottest show in town!
Well, this and the Bombshell concert. No tickets are available for that one...not even on Stubhub.

I'd like to think of the addition of the matinee as my reward for not getting Bombshell tickets. I can't wait for this!
Anyone else as excited for Taran Killam as I am? Hopefully this will be just the start of more theater for him. He's so funny on SNL and has a great voice...

Danny Burstein would be a great Mushnik. Alan Alda would be an interesting choice. He can sing.

What's the normal rehearsal period for something like this? Gyllenhaal is on the Cannes jury this year and then ends on May 24th, which would give him a little over a week

So I was concerned about the age difference for a hot minute when I realized it actually may make the show BETTER. Seymour's a lonely orphan, with no real friends. It makes so much SENSE why he'd fall for someone who could, age-wise, be his mother. It also makes Audrey all-the-more tragic, as she's later in life and still couldn't find love. Also makes her a more obvious target for Scrivello. And we're talking about LITTLE SHOP. It's not a melancholy drama, it's a camp musical that also has pathos and heart. It just WORKS. And I do think there is a double standard in terms of genders....oh and related: It's too bad Jason Alexander will be booked during this, he'd be a fabulous famous Mushnik...

Jason Alexander would have been a good choice for Seymour if they wanted to cast someone closer in age to Ellen Greene.
All that matters is that Ellen Greene is playing Audrey again and I couldn't care less about her age.
She IS Audrey.
I think Greene playing Audrey at this age could add more layers of desperation to the character being stuck on Skid Row and unable to pull herself out. And if she pulls herself out with a nerdy hunk, all the better!
What is the usual running time for a concert like this? Is it a full-length roughly 2.5 hour show, or is it shortened?
