Does anyone think Godot will have a Jessica Chastain walking out the stage door moment, or a Tom Francis walk around, or a Rachel Zegler balcony scene?  I wonder if Godot will be serious or shtick.

Godot will show up, played by Gal Gadot.

You either Godot, or you’ve had it.

Someone said somewhere Godot takes place in a skate park? Not sure that real or a joke?

That was on the pictures from I think the New York Times article, someone here commented that she saw a skate park, but I have no idea what she was talking about. The pictures were just of the two leads with a white background

Based on the text I expect the stunt will be no stunt.

I believe that came from The Rolling Stones article: https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-pictures/waiting-for-godot-behind-the-scenes-1235416439/godot_rehearsal_andyhenderson-95/

The rehearsal set appearing to be skate ramps and then one of the sections referring to “Skating into the Sunset” and “reimagining classic plays”

Srsly though, if there’s a stunt I suspect it involves a magically appearing phone booth and/or footage from “Bill and Ted” as commentary on the futility of nostalgia/celebrity. Or just Keanu soaked in goo and stripped to his underwear.

Waiting on reactions before I buy tickets for this one. I’m intrigued but skeptical.

I don’t quite think it’s supposed to be a skate park by this photo.

Hopefully this link works. It seems to be the set being built in progress.

One of Jamie Lloyd's biggest 'stunts' is that he seems to be perfect at casting and there is often a blurry line between the real life context of these stars and these characters.

In Sunset, he managed to find Nicole - a faded popstar who is immensely talented - and put her in Sunset playing a character who is a faded celebrity to great effect.

In R&J, he managed to find Tom Holland - one of the world's most popular heartthrobs - and cast him as Romeo.

In Evita, he managed to find Rachel Z - a polarising charismatic figure - and cast her as a polarising charismatic figure.

I don't think it's a coincidence that he can do this. Other directors with amazing casting sense that come to mind are Hal Prince (think Evita, Sweeney, Parade, Night Music, Follies etc.) and Michael Grief (think RENT, next to normal, Grey Gardens and War Paint).

It would not surprise me if Jamie Lloyd had the 'vision' to cast Reeves in the show from this iconic image of him.

So the real stunt will be an amazing performance.

I'm assuming we're going to find out on Saturday night that the show is actually being performed by a tree in Central Park and a video feed of it goes into the Hudson each night. Everyone just paid $600 for a movie.

I was quite surprised to learn (in a recent article with interviews of the cast and director, I'm sorry I don't remember the publication) that this production was the brainchild of its stars, Reeves and Winter, and they asked Lloyd to direct it.

This production seems like another casting coup that Lloyd is famous for, when in fact the stars cast him, so to speak.

I was under the impression that the Beckett estate--much like Albee's--has no patience with major productions of his plays being messed with by overzealous directors.  I guess we'll see...

Good catch. wink From the Rolling Stone article:

"The duo [Reeves and Winter] approached director Jamie Lloyd, known for recent revivals of Sunset Boulevard and Evita, to see if he might be interested in trying his hand at the Samuel Beckett existentialist classic Waiting for Godot. “It was Keanu‘s idea to do it, and while we knew it would be a tall mountain to climb, it did feel playable,” Winter tells Rolling Stone."

I have heard from an inside source that Reeves and Winter are actually going to begin the show each night in Central Park, enter a telephone phone booth and teleport to the stage.
