Ok, so I was watching the clip of her doing "Music and the Mirror" on YouTube, and I'd LOVE to see her take on the role in a full staging. Anyone else?
As great of a performer as Krakowski is, I doubt she could dance the original choreography to "The Music and the Mirror" full out eight times a week.

That was my fear....granted, neither can Charlotte it seems, and Krakowski can at least sing the song.
Jane did a great job with the "MATM" performance on Ally McBeal (and I also loved the pit band!) However, that choreography was far less involved than, though obviously inspired by, the Bennett choreography.
Charlotte SO can do it.
She had to audition for the part, it's not like she got it because she is pretty. There is a clip on www.theatre.com where she talks about her audition process for the role of Cassie.

EVERYONE'S A CRITIC!
Can you link us to the clip, muscle?

I think you are in the minority who like Charlotte. I found her vocals on MATM ok at best, and her dancing was sloppy. She looks like a great gangly stork when she starts doing the turns and stage crosses (In the flying mirrors portion she looks amazing, I'll give her that). Yes, she auditioned, and yes, they saw something in her, however the vast majority of the audience don't see it.
I never thought the day would come when Charlotte was called a sloppy dancer. She has danced some of the greatest dancing roles of all time.

husk, did you see Charlotte live?
Well, a few of the people I talk to on BWW thought she was perfection, like Withoutatrace and Bettyboy72, and dancingthrulife.
Anyways, I think Jane could be a good Cassie, also Amy Spanger I think could do it, but she is too young for the role.

I love A Chorus Line, enjoyed the revival, but hated Charlotte.

I have loved her in everything but this. She is normally a terrific dancer, and if they would just modify the choreography a bit, so it fit her body better, she would be fine.

If you wanna play the "people I know who have seen it" card, I know a ton of people who also saw it, and have said the same thing I have.
Spanger could be very good, I just really want to see Krakowski onstage again.
I'm sorry but i think she is dreadful in everything. She never has all 3 aspects with her. Like Chicago she had the Acting and dancing, Charity she had the singing and dancing, Chorus Line she has none if it, all three are pretty weak and i have never once seen her perform with all 3 of them at the top of her game.
I think someone like Jane would be a hug improvment. But would Jane ever be a replacment?

She talks about ACL by the end of the clip. She also said in another interview that she has to put ice all over her body everyday and goes to acupuncture, and works out daily to keep up with this show, the link has been posted below.
There are a few dancing scenes on that clip from ACL, I think she is terrific, probably one of the best dancers out there.
best12bars recently posted a story about a friend of his who played Cassie and talked about how girls were throwing up, crying, and passing out at her audition.
I have a feeling you're getting your stories mixed up and attributing that to Charlotte, because she's never said anything of that nature to my knowledge.
I love ACL but when I saw the current revival I thought, This was the best they could come up with for most of the cast including Cassie. After seeing Charlotte, I started to appreciate Donna M much more
husk, you haven't seen her, so that's all that matters to me, you are judging her, and yet you haven;t seen her entire performance live, it seems, I could be wrong, but since you ignored my ? I guess you really didn't see her.
And the people I mentioned are real people and you can ask them if you want, Im not playing any game.
Yes you're right, somethingwicked, I'll edit it.

Oh, I fully believe you about the people on the board who liked her, I'm just saying that there are more who didn't like her.
And trust me live or not, a bad performance is a bad performance.
The people criticizing are far from professional dancers. Baayork and the producers have seen the show since opening night and enjoyed her performance enough to renew her contract, so clearly she is doing something right.
Broadway.com:How do you keep from doing that? What's your maintenance like?
Charlotte: I go to acupuncture on my day off. I'm about to go have 30 needles in my back. It's a constant—I get to the theater at 6 and do a really good warm-up before every performance. I do Pilates. I see a vocal coach and vocalize every day. When I get home, I take a bath and I stretch pretty much every night. And I also ice after the show. It's constant maintenance. And then you deal with injuries. By the time I was doing Chicago, I could pretty much just show up and do it. I could get through without a voice; I could not dance it so hard; I could work around injuries. But this show I can't. I can't work around anything.
Guys, to all the ones that critize her, take the time to read this:

Wickedgeek, whether they enjoyed her performance or not, they renewed her contract because she was nominated for a tony not necessarily bbecause they enjoyed her performance. I don't she is as bad as people on this board say she is. But her i saw her understudy the last time I saw it, and she was a hell of a lot better.
I can't seem to find this clip. What do you type in the search feature?
try "jane krakowsky" (whoever loaded it spelled it wrong)
Jane sings it well, but of course she lip-synching to her own track, so we don't know how it would sound sung live. I'm sure it would be good though singing-wise. Onstage, I don't know.
PS I'm a big Cassie fan and truly appreciates what she does as Cassie. Yes, her singing isn't so hot. But in terms of acting, she's stuck with a weirdly placed and antiquely-written subplot. It's hard to work with, I'm sure. But in terms of dancing and pure presence, no one can match her.
