Posted: 12/23/14 at 8:32pmI think After Eight is a troll. He manages to turn every thread into a discussion about him. Don't feed the troll! I'm sorry I did earlier.

Posted: 12/23/14 at 8:35pmI can understand not liking any poster on this board, but wow, I hope you don't treat people in the real world like you do After Eight on this board. People are not mud that you can wipe off your boot.

macnyc,
I thought you had blocked me too.
Instead of making grand pronouncements that you fail to follow up on, just do it and be done with it.

Posted: 12/23/14 at 8:39pmWell we can all see it on this Board, and it isn't pretty.

Of COURSE they are. "Remember, man, that thou art dust and unto dust thy shall return."

"She deserves to win a Tony Award and live off the licensing rights residuals for the rest of her life if she wants to!"
It will most likely be the royalties from Shrek that allows her to live the rest of her life doing nothing if she wants to.

Posted: 12/23/14 at 11:44pmTo be clear I don't think that that's a bad thing at all. Every composer should be so lucky as to have a show or two like that that is in constant production and providing them with a fairly steady stream of income from royalties.

Posted: 12/24/14 at 10:37amTo get back on topic, at the moment I'm listening to Ring of Keys for the first time and as I expected it's wonderful. I've never really considered Tesori's body of work as a whole but I see now that's been a mistake. Obviously Lot's Wife is the acknowledged gem of the Caroline score but I've always thought that Underwater is infinitely better and wiser. Of course a lot of that has to do with Tony Kushner, but the sweet sadness of the melody is just crushing. And even though I remember very little of Shrek, I still listen to Morning Person almost every day. It's quite a range for a composer!

Living in the UK I have been out of the loop but I listened to the cast recording recently and- wow!
I just love Map and Telephone Wire especially.
I hope to see the show next year!

Posted: 12/24/14 at 8:44pmI love Ring of Keys among many others, but find myself repeating Maps second only to Days and Days. Judy Kuhn just breaks my heart with that song ... "that's how it happens." I am so eager to see her sing it live again.
