Jennifer Sanchez and Yanira Marin in West Side Story...

I know this will probably turn into all bashing, but I am curious.

According the official WSS website, Yanira Marin isn't with the company anymore, and Jennifer Sanchez indeed took her place as one of the two Anita understudies. Sanchez has already gone on as Anita, but I assumed Yanira was still there.

Anyone know what happened?

Maybe she only signed a contract for so long?

She did look too young for the role though, regardless of just being the understudy.

Anita is supposed to be a teenager, like the rest of the characters.

I really liked Yanira as Anita. Her dancing was far better than Karen's...and I love Karen.

I had the pleasure of seeing Yanira just a few weeks ago and thought she was great in the role. Not having seen Karen, I cannot compare the two but Yanira did not disappoint me.

Yarina was terrible when I saw her back in June after the Tonys. I am interested to hear what Jennifer brings to the role, because I enjoy her very much as Rosalia.

Yanira was downright terrible. I would love to see Jennifer as Anita.

Am I right in thinking that they have lost two shark girls Yanira and the "Blonde" one(can't think of her name)? It looks as though they've only replaced the "Blonde" while leaving Yanira's role completely empty. I see they have a new swing. Did they just end up cutting Yanira's role and replacing her with the new swing? I'm a bit confused if you haven't caught on haha. I really can't imagine Jenn as Anita, but I would love to see her interpretation.

I am pretty sure Danielle Polanco was let go. Not sure if she's the one in the blonde wig though. According to their site, SHINA ANN MORRIS (copied from site, sorry for caps) is the new Consuela.

Actually, I do remember seeing a casting call specifically for the role of Consuela on Playbill.com earlier this month. I Wonder why they let her go an switched everything up. West has been kind of strange when comes to casting changes.

Saw the show this afternoon.

Yanira was definitely performing, and is still on the cast board and in the playbill. I don't know why she's off the site. And I have no clue why they added another Anita U/S. Maybe Yanira will be leaving soon?


Polanco was definitely gone. And a new Consuela is already on, and in the blonde wig.
