Rosie & Kristin New Musical?

There's a reading of a new musical on October 19th before Rosie heads back to Ireland. Anyone know what it is?

Re: Rosie & Kristin New Musical?

Let's hope it's not Whorehouse. She's wrong for that - as is Rosie.

Re: Rosie & Kristin New Musical?

Hoping it's the Traitorz parody musical with Rosie attempting an Cummings impersonation.

Will forever be referring to "Soapdish" as "Shampoo" from now on.

Bahahahaha I honestly thought it was the same thing! Ooops!

Shampoo is a fantastic film. Let us pray they never adapt it into a terrible musical.

I saw a preview of the soapdish musical when I was in London a few years back and thought it was terrific. What they've already done with it. I'm eager to see if that's what this is.

Huhh??

Is there some sort of problem with her that we don't know about? Or are you MAGA? Or is it just 1986 again??

Well, in fairness Rosie can’t sing or act, notwithstanding her many Broadway credits. She’s a personality and has a fan base that has probably grown since she has been trolling the fascist in the White House.

Does the title of the thread suggest that Rosie might be in a show with Kristin Chenoweth? If so, I understand the comment about reading the room: lots of us are still ambivalent at best about our feelings towards Chenoweth. Rosie should find a less divisive show partner for her long-awaited return.

If that's not the Kristin being referred to, then of course I withdraw the comment.

Rosie is not doing anything wrong by collaborating with Chenoweth. Rosie has been supportive of her since Charlie Brown in the 90s. Giving condolences to a murder victim (who I happen to despise but that's neither here nor there) should not mean that you are treated like a pariah forever.

I understand your argument, but I think it's a little obtuse to pretend we don't all understand what the previous poster meant by the "read the room" comment.

But I'll go a little further with this: does Chenoweth regularly express condolences to murder victims from all walks of life on her social media? Or did she kind of go out of her way to acknowledge the death of this particular victim? I honestly don't know the answer to that question, as I don't follow her, but I suspect that she does not express condolences for the death of the typical murder victim.

Re: Rosie & Kristin New Musical?

I understood what the "read the room" comment meant.

This wasn't a "typical murder." It was a viral event that could be viewed from multiple angles. I can understand someone commenting on that and not other deaths. But I don't pay much attention to her socials so I don't know how often KC comments on such things. But after a year I don't think Rosie is doing anything wrong and I highly doubt she would be fond of a homophobe.

The big thing is that she talked about how there were certain values that she agreed with him about and how she believed he was going to heaven. The man spouted so many awful and bigoted beliefs, that her expressing that she agreed with some of them had us all wondering " what beliefs are you talking about?" And she never would clarified. Refusing to clarify yourself makes people start to question you and come to their own conclusions. The whole thing would have been shut down quickly if she just clarified herself ( assuming they weren't controversial views she agreed with)

Kristin Chenoweth isn't a homophobe. She's been outspoken regarding her support for queer rights.

But that's what's just expected of a decent person; no bonus points are awarded for that.

darrey did a good job describing why some of us are still very wary of Chenoweth. Forgiveness and understanding are still very possible, but she has to do a little bit of work to make that happen.

Re: Rosie & Kristin New Musical?

I lost all respect for Chenoweth after the Kirk thing. As said above, the fact she didn’t even comment on the uproar to clarify what she meant, just made it worse. Maybe all the Botox has affected her brain. I don’t care to ever see her on stage again.

Re: Rosie & Kristin New Musical?

Maybe Rosie worded it wrong and this is a revival - is Scott Rudin developing MAME?

I was just going to say I think it’s Mame! They’ve been trying to make a revival happen for ages it seems. This casting seems right for this moment. Kristin was so awesome in On the 20th Century, a similarly frothy show. It could totally work. I don’t really know any other names that could sell it in 2026, and with an “old school” show like Mame, it will definitely take two names.

Re: Rosie & Kristin New Musical?

I find it quite laughable that diehard liberal O'Donnell deciding she can still work with Kristin just isn't good enough for folks. We're gonna keep losing if we keep eating each other alive.
