If he is coming back to Broadway in a fifteen year old show as the millionth Fiyero he needs to fire his entire management team, Star or not a star, this would be such a huge come down. Not quite sure on what planet this would occur on or on what cold day. That the mostly knowledgeable denizens of these boards would seriously float this is so puzzling to me. What a death wish for someone who otherwise seems to have very little ill-will aimed at him.
He's earned some of that nifty TV money and with that as a cushion, I can only imagine (and hope) that if he is coming back to NY for a musical it will be something more dignified and career enhancing than "Wicked." Sheesh, why don't we aim high for the guy and speculate that he is in the new Sondheim/Bunuel show especially since Mantello revealed this seems to be happening sooner rather than later and others noting on TBITB thread that a spot has opened up at The Public? Perhaps he is taking the part that Matthew Morrison did in the reading a couple of years back (I do enjoy the sorta symmetry since Harvey Weinstein replaced JJ with Matthew Morrison for the Broadway run of "Neverland" after the ART run).
Jordan was, of course, in "A Bed and A Chair" and the "Opening Doors" number for the HBO doc Six by Sondheim and WSS revival, so he seems to have the Sondheim seal of approval.
My completely uninformed but humble and hunch-y opinion, if that if not this, only something of this caliber would/could/should bring him back.

While I wouldn't call Wicked a "step down", normally I would agree that it would be a strange choice, BUT we're coming up on the show's 15th, which is a milestone of sorts, and might lend itself to more opportunities to anniversary cast members rather than any other year he might happen to join the cast.

Jeremy Jordan is NOT going to come back to Broadway to be a replacement.. Let's face it. This dude doesn't stay in a show longer than 6 months, and he's in it for the attention/money. I love his voice and his performances, but I really think the dude has a huge ego. He left Broadway for a long time to do TV for the money, and once he gets demoted, he decides he'll come back to the theatre which he loves so much. We may think he should be replacement, but he doesn't think he's a replacement.

I’m not sure how you know his intentions unless he’s told you or you’re a mind-reader. As far as his television gig, all objective evidence points to him stepping into a recurring role voluntarily.
Also, while it’s true he only stayed with Newsies for 6 months, you can say that is also true of Shaloub on-broadway in The Band’s Visit and this same amount of vitriol hasn’t been aimed at him because people recognize actors can choose to move on to other endeavors just as people in any profession might do.
By the time I saw Newsies in November 2013, he had long left the show. I for one look forward to welcoming him back to the New York stage.

Doesn’t stay in a show longer than 6 months? That’s factually incorrect.
He made his Broadway debut as an understudy in Rock of Ages, which he was in for over a year. He was the alternate and understudy for Tony in West Side Story for 11 months. He was in Bonnie and Clyde for a month because it was a flop and closed. The only show he was in for “6 months” was Newsies.

The speculation about the Sondheim show is interesting. I'm in the camp that believes that in order to voluntarily give up a regular TV gig, he would have to be working on something pretty big as a return to the stage, and those plans would have to go back several months in order to facilitate the Supergirl writers giving him an escape route. Whatever his plans are, they did not just recently materialize. The Sondheim project would be big enough to justify that kind of commitment.
His Instagram story is a bit cryptic with a caption linking it to Playbill's Instagram. Maybe an announcement coming today?
I've always thought of a 'star' as someone who could sell a fair amount of full-price tickets by name alone.
And that ain't Jeremy Jordan.

Playbill's IG story is all about Jeremy and Jack Kelly...I swear, if this is all an elaborate promotion for the Fathom Events re-showing of Newsies later this month, I will be PISSED.
On the other hand, if Jeremy announces a new show on Broadway, I'll be booking my trip to NY within hours.
Maybe he's doing a revival of something?

Don’t know. Just pointing out how he announced it and is doing it today. He was tagging playbill in a video about 30 minutes before announcing it
This whole Playbill takeover is because he is doing concerts with his wife in New York soon. He is simply promoting those.

Interesting choice for his Broadway comeback, but I think I would prefer him in a musical. He’s too good a singer not to be singing on a Broadway stage. That also applies to Steven Pasquale.

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty sad his new project isn't a musical, but of course support Jeremy doing whatever makes him happy. I'll still probably come to NY to see it. I wonder if it's safe to assume he'll be in it for the whole run (16 weeks)?
Updated On: 7/10/18 at 08:24 AMI’m actually really excited about this. I’ve added this to my list of new plays and revivals I want to see in November if I can make it back. It’s not looking likely I’ll be able to swing it right now, though. Fingers crossed!

Totally agree, those two men have some of the best voices on Broadway. Huge bummer, but I understand he wants to do something he has never done on Broadway before. But still.....he is best in a musical. I look forward to seeing this.

almost like this is his career and what he does to make money and he goes where the money goes. Not so shocking really

So Jeremy's June 29 tweet of ''It's a tune you can hum'' wasn't a clue to his new Broadway show? Or is there some connection I'm missing to ''American Son''? I was hoping for a revival of ''Merrily.''
Updated On: 7/10/18 at 03:11 PM
Of course it was a clue. The next line is "Broadway here I come". He's coming back to Broadway.
So, at their shows this past week at Sony Hall, Jeremy and Ashley Spencer did a Waitress medley, and also talked about their obsession with the musical. Erich Bergen is scheduled to leave the show on 8/12, while Katherine exits on 8/19. Now, hear me out. I don't know if something like this would be unprecedented, but could Jeremy join the show just for Katherine's final week? Has a guest run like that ever happened before?
