When Kat McPhee was the first reply, I thought Waitress. But Andy Mientus was also in the thread so it could be anything.

Yes, because returning to something you LOVE the most is dumb. Ugh. Byeeeeee.
He'd be a great Orpheus in Hadestown. I'd love to see him step into that for the broadway production.

That was actually my first thought as well. But then I thought about it more, and I feel like he's not quite right for it. Not sure if he's quite "indie" enough. But then, I didn't think he would be a good Leo Frank either, but I was pleasantly surprised.

No...no...no... Does not fit the role or production at all
^Um why not? I saw it off Broadway and I think he could easily play the part in a Broadway production especially since it's being expanded into a lusher piece before it comes here. It's not like I said he should play Mama Rose in Gypsy. It's a part that he would be very right in and I think he would fit the production very well.
Jeremy Jordan don't dance.
The "tune you can hum" seems to be a reference to MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG!

That's what I was thinking, too. Maybe he's doing that off-Broadway production that's coming this season at Roundabout? I can see him opening an off-Bway show rather than replacing in an existing show, he was a leading man opening a show before Smash and Supergirl came along.

TV shows don't tape year-round?

It is the line he sings before singing "Broadway, Here I Come" in Smash? At 1:43 in this clip:

It's not clear from your comment, but he did leave the show (and was put on recurring status). Seemingly by his choice.

I could really see him as either Frank or Charlie. Either would be wonderful.

Interesting, so the whole thing could just mean he's coming back to NYC and not specifically to Broadway at all, then?
We knew he was coming back to NYC based on his instagram post last week. But his recent tweet fuelled the Broadway rumour.

I don't really seek out Jeremy Jordan news at that frequency.
On what planet is Jeremy Jordan a “star”...?
He may be well known in the theater community, but he ain’t no “star.”

Virtually anyone who has appeared on Broadway is anointed with the "star" designation by some in the press. It's pretty harmless, and really not worth quibbling over. You can set all kinds of criteria that would determine who an actual "star" might be, and there would always be others who will challenge those criteria. Instagram followers? Starring roles? TV appearances? Movies? What determines a star? Talent level or popularity? Most would concede that it is the latter. The sad truth is that the most talented performers on Broadway cannot even approach the popularity of no talent reality show "stars" from television. In that context, if someone wants to call Jeremy Jordan a star, that opinion is no less valid than yours. And if someone wants to celebrate a performer who has appeared in only one Broadway show by featuring her in an avatar, that's okay too.

I remember people mentioned in the thread on David Cook coming back that they were thinking he was just a filler for a "big star " to come in the fall. I'm seeing the show on Cook's first Sunday back in 3 weeks and I really hope it doesn't turn into an Oak situation with Jordan doing it instead in two weeks (even though that will most likely not happen with that timing )

Somebody on All Things Broadway said the same thing ..Guess APA is leaving the same time as Jackie ? They announced that Jessica Vosk is replacing Jackie but didn't announce the Fieyro replacement
What about one of the brothers in Secret Garden?

If he is coming back to Broadway in a fifteen year old show as the millionth Fiyero he needs to fire his entire management team, Star or not a star, this would be such a huge come down. Not quite sure on what planet this would occur on or on what cold day. That the mostly knowledgeable denizens of these boards would seriously float this is so puzzling to me. What a death wish for someone who otherwise seems to have very little ill-will aimed at him.
He's earned some of that nifty TV money and with that as a cushion, I can only imagine (and hope) that if he is coming back to NY for a musical it will be something more dignified and career enhancing than "Wicked." Sheesh, why don't we aim high for the guy and speculate that he is in the new Sondheim/Bunuel show especially since Mantello revealed this seems to be happening sooner rather than later and others noting on TBITB thread that a spot has opened up at The Public? Perhaps he is taking the part that Matthew Morrison did in the reading a couple of years back (I do enjoy the sorta symmetry since Harvey Weinstein replaced JJ with Matthew Morrison for the Broadway run of "Neverland" after the ART run).
Jordan was, of course, in "A Bed and A Chair" and the "Opening Doors" number for the HBO doc Six by Sondheim and WSS revival, so he seems to have the Sondheim seal of approval.
My completely uninformed but humble and hunch-y opinion, if that if not this, only something of this caliber would/could/should bring him back.
