I'm curious - how and why do they (Mirvish and DanCap) manage to get these shows to stay in Toronto for so many months? Phantom was in Toronto for about four months last year, and JB will be in Toronto for just over three months, while all the other cities have the shows just for a few weeks.

A wise approach.
My 2 cents: this show's gonna be big in TO. A sit down for sure.

That likelihood is what is keeping it off the schedules for Buffalo all next year and beyond right now.
If the sit-down doesn't happen, it will probably hit Buffalo in 2010.
For now, it's up the QEW we go....

If I were producing, I would insist that the Rochester engagement be cancelled.
I know someone who works at the show, and people are coming from Boston because they can't get tickets in NY. People are also leaving the show saying it is the best thing they have ever seen. Word of mouth on this show is going to drive ticket sales for a year I say.

There is a press invitation for 6 PM with the show starting at 7 followed by a reception.
I will be there. PM me if you want to meet up.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

We want to hear all about it! (PLEASE!)
Hope you enjoy the show!

Fantastic opening night performance, and a great after-party. No, Frankie Valli did not make it due to a scheduling conflict, but Bob Gaudio was there signing autographs including one rather seeding looking guy scruffily dressed who handed Bob a couple of 45-rpm's and asked him to sign right on the vinyl with a silver marker!
Talked to Michael David (whom I have seen so many times on the Tony Awards) - he is a hoot! He says he's always worried about winning because he hates making speeches.
Talked with both Frankies - Joseph Leo Bwarie and Zackary Prince. Joseph was clearly the star of the evening signing autographs, posing for pictures and graciously chatting with just about everyone. Zack could very easily pass for his twin, and was just a friendly.
I didn't see Jeremy Kushnier at teh recption but he may have been on the upper level. I did see Bob Martin before the show, and Adam Brazier, and Louise Pitre.
The show had that smash-hit feel all evening long and one of the techs told me they are hoping for a year long run. We'll see.
As for enjoying it, well how could I not. The music is fine (I mean these were songs on the radio as I grew up) but the book is very strong. I commented a to a friend at intermission I wish all the jukebox musicals had books this good. "So do I!" was her reply.
Well the excitement is over for now..but on Friday Shaw Festival's FOLLIES opens. My suit is getting a good workout this week.

I'd put money down on it.

Lion King in Toronto had a 1000 mile radius for the first 3 years (or something like that) which is why it did not get into Chicago for such a long time.
Hairspray tour got to Detroit (500 km from TO.) six months after it left Toronto.
etc. etc.
With the popularity of this show, Rochester would be in TO's radius.
As for Legally Blonde, the idea there might be to cash in on the popularity while they can...
