Toxic Avenger, although in NYC...takes place in New Jersey. So did The Wedding Singer, and I Love My Wife ("We all went to high school together in Trenton"). Ragtime's second act also begins in New Jersey, Atlantic City.
What's my point, you ask? No point, I just happenstanced upon those four shows on my IPod this morning. I was just wondering if there were any others that took place in Jersey.
Thanks!

I'm from both worlds, actually. Born in Brooklyn (which, if you ask my ex-boyfriend IS "the city". No, Brooklyn is Brooklyn and Manhattan is Manhattan. Manhattan is "the city".) and moved to NJ - not by choice though LOL
I just saw Toxie about 2 weeks ago, and I must say, they did get a lot of Jersey down to a T. I didn't love the show, but it was good. But I must say, the Jersey jokes were spot on and hysterical. They did a great job.
It seems to me that NJ is becoming "hot". With the Sopranos, the above mentioned shows, House....
Gotta admit, it's great to be exposed to all this Jersey culture without having to actually GO there.

No freaking kidding. I've been trying to get out for years. Saving up to move away.... eventually!
The hospital on House is supposed to be Princeton Hospital though they can't actually call it that. That's the hospital where me, my younger brother, and my younger sister were all born. And the arial shots of the hospital are, actually, the student center at Princeton University.
There's nothing wrong with New Jersey. Just certain areas, like where I live.

I LOVE where I live. Every state has areas that aren't the best but Jersey has it's great areas too. I live in a suburb of Trenton. I can get to Philadelphia in about an hour, New York City in about an hour, and Baltimore in two and a half hours. I can choose between two airports (Philly and Newark) and I can get to the shore fairly quickly as well.

Yep. It's supposed to be Princeton-Plainsboro Hospital. And they are actually building a hospital in Plainsboro now - i think it's costing 4.1 million dollars and will open in 2011.
Marianne2, I live 10 minutes from Rutgers. I went to Rutgers. I hate this area. Full of frat boys, meatheads, lots of "look at how much of a hoochie I can dress like" girls and tweens who ZOMG!!! love "Twilight".
Kill me please. Or move me back to NY. One or the other.
Yeah, I could see where an area like that wouldn't be enjoyable. I live in the sticks though, so any suburb or even the city are so much more enjoyable. And sadly, even Scranton, PA was a culture shock to what I'm used to.
Oh, Jersey. I was born and raised there. All my family still lives there and sometimes I miss it (I grew up in Bergen County, right outside New York City). My town is very nice. But I went to undergrad in Boston and there I stayed. I can't tell you how much I am teased about being from NJ, but it really wasn't bad living there.
I miss the closeness to NYC (a 20 minute bus ride) and the large amount of 24 hour diners most of all.
I love Jersey!!
I wouldn't live anywhere else.
I HATE Jersey. I live in a town in the Morris County area and everyone in my school is a stuck up snob and athletic. It sucks being into the arts at my school. They cut the theater program to make a golf club.
Trust me, Sussex is a million times worse. You have to drive to get anywhere and it's very hick. Hell, I highly doubt we are represented in any Jersey based theater or movie. The only thing I could relate to somewhat was Garden State.
I quite enjoy New Jersey. I was born and raised in Monmouth County, went to Rutgers for undergrad (finally went out of state for grad school), and now live in Essex County in the lovely town of Caldwell.

"They cut the theater program to make a golf club."
Ew.
Though, I will admit there are a few good things about NJ: The Paper Mill Playhouse, the Seaside Boardwalk, Diners and Robert Wood Johnson Hospital.
I always feel like I got a double whammy: living in Jersey and getting teased by people from other states, and living in a part of Jersey that gets me teased by people in the state. =P but I realized that this is really the place I'd be happiest, so it's good.
I live in Essex county, in the town of Bloomfield. Aside from the absurdly high taxes, I really love it. Love the diversity. Love the proximity to NYC. Love the schools. Unfortunately, the taxes are so high that we will seriously look at moving when our youngest finishes high school in four years.

Jersey Girl: Born and Bred! Although I, too, reside near Boston now. And YES!!! I miss the closeness to NYC and diners the most!!!
I'm guessing I might have grown up near Eris....Mercer County? I spent many a bad girl night crashing Frat Parties at Princeton while I was in HS!
Ah.....NJ, The Garden State. (Still cannot get tomatoes to taste as good here as home!)
Don't forget lower gas prices!!
Yes, that's the good thing about living in Jersey. Actually, that might even be the better thing about living in a rural area. I noticed the gas prices fluctuate about 10 cents more going east.
The only things I can think of my area being famous for is Space Farms and the former Action Park. Fun readings in Weird New Jersey.
