nope, just sick of stunt casting. and unfortunatly, Rathnait is right about no names vs. producers, and that saddens me... anyway sorry if i was freaking out, it's just really difficult for me to hear people praise someone that i don't think posesses any talent. it's very frustraiting. pop people belong in the pop world, broadway people belong in the broadway world, and the cross-over bussiness is just really... annoying. my 2 1/2 cents.

I have to say, Nick might make a wonderful Fiyero. And while I love Simpson's voice, I'm not sure she's right for the part. Maybe she would've been able to play Amneris in Aida or Audrey in LSOH. Maybe Sophie in Mamma Mia, Maureen in Rent, or Ulla in Producers.
It's not annoying if the star/celebrity actually has the talent. Again, someone said it was hypothetical - it was only an idea. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a big time star appearing on Broadway - if they have the talent! It's not stunt casting if it is done correctly and carefully.

Right - that's why I called it "name" casting instead of stunt casting. Because it isn't always.

jessica would make a wonderful audrey. a lot of male stars do billy flynn, which i find EXTREMELY annoying.
Chicago is, essentially, a stunt show these days.
you're totally right millie! i recant my comment, it was made in haste. jane in "nine" and natasha in "cabaret" were great ideas, though i guess it is "name" casting and not "stunt." there were a lot of sub-par stars taking over the "sally" role as the show went on. i'm really irriatating, aren't i?
