Holy Lord in heaven. If people think Jessica is a better singer than Idina, some people need help.

Jessica SCREAMS. So does Idina. But listen to Idina's "Here" CD. There's no sign of her belting on that CD, she just sings her melodies, and her voice is beautiful.

Jessica can't get through one song without screaming. Her voice can also give you a MAJOR headache.

I also agree, people need to leave Idina alone, the girl is talented regardless she dosen't have the best voice on Broadway, she can STILL sing quite well!

ljay,
don't forget the fact that jessica can't make it through a song without a.) looking like she is doing bad things to amicrophone when she belts, and b.)pumping her arm anytime she belts

"Yes, Idina is amazing. And, she deserves her recognition for the effort she puts into her job. She apparently warms up for an hour and a half every day, doesn't speak outside of her role, and does yoga to help warm up too. She's devoted to the part."

That's the kind of devotion you have to have to last in a leading role in a Broadway musical. Idina is no better than anyone else for doing those things - that's what it takes. And they get paid very well for the sacrifices.

Ugh....I'm so tired of this. I don't care if you think that Idina is god's gift to Broadway and that she should be left alone and cherished like the beautiful jewel she is. I don't! I personally think that she screams way too much and when she stops screaming, she sounds like a 52-year-old smoker. Ya don't like it? TOUGH! Welcome, kiddies, to a message board. In here, we express our opinions no matter how different they are. We don't just "leave people alone" because they've got about 17,000 shills on here who all have names like "WICKEDANDIDINAPICKMYNOSEANDITMAKESMEFEELALLHAPPYINSIDE".

Ahhhh....that feels better.

Okay, you want it in theatre terms? Her voice lacks natural vibretto which, while it doesn't always need to be used, is a sign of good, healthy singing. This also proves that she lacks Bel Canto technique. And Broadway stars should not have good nights and bad nights. They shouldn't hit a note sometimes and miss it sometimes. High belting, like that required in Wicked, should not be a strain on the vocal cords. I also think that her acting is only mediocre and that people think that she's doing some great new acting because she's green and she waves her arms around a lot. She plays too much to the audience and falls out of character because she wants to "bring the house down".

"Okay, you want it in theatre terms?"

There's no need to be patronizing...an attitude such as that is highly unnecessary. I KNOW theatre, for crying out loud. When you get your musical theatre degree and an opera performance degree...then you can come and be as condescending as you want to. Thank YOU very much

I'm not trying to make the woman God...I'm trying to give due respect to a woman who obviously loves her job. Yes, there's been better...I've seen them as well. But who are we to take away anything from Idina? She's on Broadway and we're NOT, keep that in mind next time you decide to go badmouthing a pro. They're doing it and we're only watching.

So what if she does lack some of those things. She never claimed to be a big classical opera singer like Cheno. Personally, when she is singing a melody straight through without any belting she sound beautiful...try hearing her "Here" cd.

Just answer this. Do you seriously think Jessica is a better singer than Idina? Yeah Jessica can scream more than Idina, but she just can get very irritating.

Do you think you're telling me things I don't already know? I'd hate for you to be wasting your precious time when you could be patronizing someone else.

Until you've heard Jessica sing opera, I would shut your little mouth. She's a fantastic opera singer. A beautiful 4-octave range ~ remember folks, she is a pop star. She's supposed to throw her arms around and stuff - I'd do the same thing. Idina can't act - mostly everyone in the original RENT cast couldn't act, but some of them got better as they went on to do other shows...Idina hasn't gotten any better.

I clearly said Jessica screams way more than Idina. Idina has a better voice, period.

where, oh where, would one go about hearing Jessica Simpleton singing Opera? I don't recall her ever releasing an Operatic album. There must have been something missed, I'm a fan of Jess'. Don't get me wrong, the girl can sing...but I don't believe she's got the dedication, work ethic, or frankly the talent to make it. Plain and simple...my opinion, take it or leave it. That IS what we're here for right?

The thing is...Jessica has made it. She's one of the most famous people in the world now.

Jessica has operatic notes in her first album that completely blew my mind apart.

Idina is annoying. She's an overrated performer singing overrated songs in an overrated production. She already did that in RENT.

Okay. So she might have hit operatic notes on her first album (which I own).

Big deal, it dosen't make her an opera or clasical singer.

yes i agree...the album with "I wanna love you forever" was phenomenal. I listen to it, alot. I'm not taking anything away from her singing as a pop-singer, but a role in Wicked. I just don't think she could handle it and until she proves me wrong.. I will think the same thing. When or if she manages to do it and pulls it off...then more power to her and I will eat my slice of humble pie like the rest of nay-sayers.

Why would she want to do Broadway anyway? She is very famous right now and it would hurt her national career. As for her show I really hope you are all not nieve enough to believe what you see on a so called "reality tv show". I have worked with Jessica, her Mom and Ashley, and believe me most of what you see on that show is an act with push from the MTV producers. Jessica will not be doing a Broadway show any time soon.
