Wow. That's scary. As strange as it is, I can see Joey as Seymour. Joey wasn't horrible in RENT- he was actually OK. I think he's good at playing the nerdy type characters.
Hunter Foster was the one of the two performances that makes Little Shop berable to sit though. With Joey Fatone I predict the closing notice will be up by September.
Didn't ticket sales for RENT skyrocket after they announced Fatone was going to be in it? The same might happen here.
"Noah, someday we'll talk again. But there's things we'll never say. That sorrow deep inside you. It inside me, too. And it never go away. You be okay. You'll learn how to lose things..."
He'll very likely pull it off -- the Zhlub on Skid Row sensibility, the little pot belly, etc. I agree with others here -- he wasn't bad in Rent. He has stage presence, and I don't think this score is as demanding.

oh no. i really hoped this was a joke or a horrible rummor. i mean, hunter is the ONLY actor from this show who got a nomination, and he's leaving. well, i guess it is a good move on his part.
I love Hunter, but I thought he was kinda blah in this role...lovable, sounded good, but...nothing compared to him in Urinetown. I'm sure Joey will be fine.
I think Joey proved himself pretty well when he was Mark two years ago. He was great in his first few months, before he got really bored and downward spiraled and took the rest of the cast with him. But he has talent and enthusiasm, and is great to his fans, and I can be fairly sure he will be able to do this role quite well.
Of course, Little Shop is, in my opinion, not too hard to screw up and he really can't make anything much worse than it already is. But that's just my opinion.
