Lord, I had such a crush on John Davidson in The Happiest Millionaire, when it would come on late at night on the Disney Channel in the 80s and 90s. He and Lesley Ann Warren waltzing and singing "Are We Dancing?" = SWOON.

The article says he'll be touring for about a year? But isn't the tour done this fall?

FYI: I saw Wesley Ann Warren in a variation of the BALLROOM WITH A TWIST stage show last summer and met her afterwards. Let's be kind and say she looked and sang so much better in THE HAPPIEST MILLIONAIRE.

I think they do have had this week off. I read on some FN blog that the Davies boys were enjoying their week off.

I thought he was outstanding as the Old Actor in THE FANTASTICKS but merely adequate when he took over thevrole of Bellomy a few weeks later. Privately, he admitted those same sentiments to me.

I was so in love with him when he was young. I even saw him in concert! Years later I saw him in State Fair with Andrea Mcardle and he was good. He had turned into a silver fox.

He hated his performance in STATE FAIR. The topic came up over lunch and he put down his fork, looked me square in the eyes and said: "Do I look like a hog farmer?". He also was critical of being cast in CAROUSEL, feeling he couldn't come across as "bad".

No. He went on to say he was woefully miscast. People actually came to the show expecting John to be playing the boy Wayne. Instead, John was playing the boy's father--a role he felt miscast in (and not just because of his clean-cut looks) As I recall, he felt anyone playing thevrole should look a bit more "weathered". Instead, John had dimples that could be seen from the back of the house.

It's absurd that anyone would think at that point that they were going to see John Davidson play Wayne Frake. Cripes, he was gray haired and middle aged at that point.
That whole show was miscast from top to bottom. I mean having Donna McKechnie play the showgirl who falls in love with young Wayne made her come across like a cougar - and John was way too young to be playing Kathryn Crosby's husband! And don't get me started on Andrea McArdle as Margy...her ingenue ship had sailed at that point for her to be playing such a naive corn-fed little miss.
That being said I did have a major crush on him via his 2 Disney films with the always sensational Lesley Ann Warren: The Happiest Millionaire and The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band!
They made such a charismatic, adorable couple in both!
