I think it could totally work. Strip it down so it's about the acting and relationships, and it could really work. It's such an emotional piece. I think in NYC everything always has to be so lavish, but this could really work.

I wasn't even thinking of the set/simplicity though. I was thinking about the cast size.

TCP was produced at the Gay and Lesbian theatre here in LA, and it only has 70 some seats in the theatre. It was a multiple award winning production.

Good things can come in small packages.

I plan on sitting in the audience and screaming "Get it, Tasia!!!!!" no matter who's singing the song.

Actually found lots to like in the original production of "Purple", especially the first half of Act I and the opening letter/ballet in Act II. Not sure why all the hate directed at John Doyle-- his Passion at CSC is simple and well-told (and no actors playing instruments).

Because his actor/musician mania is something of a joke. Good lord, it hasnt been that many years since the BARNUM fiasco, and thank God we were spared his rather unique vision of this for NIGHT MUSIC.

It's a cute stylistic approach in small doses, but for a while he was using it with the kind of regularity that was astounding.
