Not to worry, juggles. If anything, British productions are OVER-praised when they reach Broadway. No doubt this one will be, too.

Today, Leonard Maltin has a nice little blurb about the new Judy book by John Fricke here: http://blogs.indiewire.com/leonardmaltin/archives/new_and_notable_film_books1/

Type "Judy Garland orgasm" into the search engine on Funny or Die or youtube and you won't need to spend 100 bucks to see this show.

I saw it the other week on the tour and thought it was really good. However, I'm not going to say that everyone who's dubious about the show is on the wrong track. I felt a little uncomfortable at times, but couldn't work out whether that was because I'd read this thread and was taking some of the views from that with me.
As mentioned the actor playing the pianist was very very good, and Tracie Bennett's singing was also excellent.
For what it's worth, my mum came with me, not knowing much about Garland or the show, except that it's been widely well received and is going to broadway and was on her feet at the end, which is very unusual for her.
I'll be interested to see what the American critics make of it.

"was on her feet at the end, which is very unusual for her."
I've never seen such spontaneous standing ovations. Bennett just brings the whole audience to their feet. A remarkable performance. One for the ages.

ClapYo'Hands - I'll admit I was suprised when she was on her feet - she's not one for ovations usually, I think I've maybe seen her give one before. I think she sees about 15 shows a year (not all with me) so she's not exactly a tourist.
I think maybe it's going to get people more when they're *not* massively into Garland. The ones that are drawn in by the reviews, the word of mouth and a bit of curiosity

@allofmylife...hello I am sorry I have no idea what you are going on about. Maybe it's American humour but I have Uk humour. Perhaps they clash? Just looked at the youtube you recommended and all I can say is that you are a pervert. You do know you are talking to a 70 odd year old in me; don't you? Do you talk to your own grandma like this and recommend filthy youtube clips to her? Americans never cease to amaze me..........yuk

I don't understand what your problem with allofmylife's comment is hermajesty. This Brit understood it just fine - he's telling you he was being sarcastic with his suggestion about youtube.

Hello, hermajesty. Welcome to the boards.
Just to be fair, I don't imagine allofmylife was talking to you specifically when suggesting watching that clip. I also don't know how you could expect anyone to know you're a 70-something grandmother.
But all that aside, what on earth did you expect when you did type "Judy Garland" and "orgasm" into the YouTube search engine? I hadn't seen the video before and I didn't find it particularly funny. But I didn't find it surprising, either.

I totally did not understand allofmylife's posts but gave him the benefit of the doubt and found the youtube clip to be disgusting and nothing whatsoever connected with Tracie Bennett's magnificent portrayal of Judy Garland which is what this thread is supposedly about. He seems to be ridiculing that amazing performance without even seeing it.!*%&^$£*__!!!!
