Interesting take on Chenoweth, Horton. So...do you consider musical theater to be a step down from opera? In my opinion they are completely different and both have their own positives and negatives. (Sorry, a bit OT.) If so, why would you consider Kristin to be "not even that good". She is one of the few (please correct me if this is inaccurate) leading performers of Broadway with extensive classical operatic training. If opera is somehow "better" in your opinion, wouldn't that make you appreciate Broadway perfomers like Chenoweth more?

Don't like the thread title? Don't care? Then don't click.
Cheno fan heard a rumor and came here looking for confirmation. No need to have a cow. If you really think that this is "crap," I'm sure there are plenty of other interesting threads on BWW that you can check out instead.

I agree with you, Millie. Some people just get misinformed or need clarification. When I first joined I think I started a Wicked movie thread but have since learned that's probably not a good idea. Although, I think people were pretty nice to me so and simply stated there were no plans for such a movie. I don't understand why now some people here aren't so nice when someone starts a thread they think is silly. Like Millie said, if you don't care, don't click.
I believe her Undergrad degree is in Vocal Performance actually. OCU didn't start the MT degree program until after she had completed her Undergrad.
According to her Apple Tree bio, her undergrad degree is in musical theater.
Sources at Joe Mantello's office have confirmed that Cheno IS going back to WICKED but it'll be the Broadway company and she'll be doing 'a Bebe' by returning to play Elphaba and NOT G(a)linda.
There ya have it. The original poster was slightly on target.
"Didn't you hear both Kristin AND Idina were coming back to Wicked? "
where did you hear that sweetQ? Is it positively true?
Ohhh, dear sarcasm, why are you so hard to get across?
BrodyFosse...that was sarcasm, right?...Sorry if I sound gullible; he/she just made it sound so credible with a source and everything :)

CHENO FAN - sooo soory that alot of the people on this board forgot to take their happy pills today. not all of us are like that.
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofu
Cheno fan there is no ****ing way she is comming back. Espicaly with Idina. My director told us how his freind was hired help iin the rehersal process and let's just say that practical jokes played by cheno idina and Norbert turned into cheno hateing idina and vise versa.
Essentally, we all know they don't get along so why the hell would they bring th3em back together for another production
I know I will get flamed for what i had just said. However, I have been posting here for a wh9ile. I know what will get me flamed and what won't. however, there are times like now when I could care less bout getting flamed.
"you joined to bring us this crap. I dont care. NOBODY CARES! I am not being mean this is life- she is not even that talented, yes i said it. Go to an opera house, everybody can do what she does, and more. The just dont sell out and do musical theater, (and commercials for Old Navy)!"
This is a foolish thing to post. People who make a switch from opera to musical theatre are not sellouts. Opera and Musical Theatre are very similar in many regards but in terms of the performance aspect I consider them to be very different. I challenge many of the opera singers you hold in such high regard to do what Chenoweth, Sutton Foster, Tonya Pinkins, Bernadette Peters are able to do in terms of that acting style.
The point is that you can't truly compare operatic and musical theatre styles of performance because they are extremely different in the ways they engage and hold and impress an audience. Musical Theatre isn't a step down from opera and opera is not a step down from musical theatre.
Someofallthings...Well put and I agree completely!

Not that I even think this would ever happen, but the short answer: To make money. Wicked fans would be all over this in a second... But they've already brought Idina back once for that marketing ploy so the chances of the producers trying to use it again is probably pretty slim.

It seems like it's a huge NO-NO for someone on the boards to be a Chenoweth fan. I'm sorry, is it not "cool" to like anything or anyone related to Wicked? Is THIS why the mighty and theatrically superior posters jump down everyone's throats?
Kristin Chenoweth is highly trained, vocally versatile and has a huge, balanced range. She also has great comic timing, an appealing stage presence and just happens to be drop dead gorgeous. She's the total package. If Wicked's popularity makes you unable to see that, then you have a problem.
Maybe you think those teeny boppers are annoying...well guess what? So are theatre snobs.

People can't even tell the difference between musical theatre or opera anymore. Is Gilbert and Sullivan musical theatre or opera? Porgy and Bess? Seriously.
Besides, Kelli O'Hara, who is now a Broadway actress, won the Met Opera competition.
I agree, Eva! (As you can probably tell by my avatar).

Kristin's undergraduate degree is in Music Theatre.. Her masters degree is in Vocal Performance. Period. End of discussion.
It seems to me that the ones who dislike Chenoweth the most are the ones that are completely jealous of her and her undeniable talent. The girl can do anything. Get over it. Some people have it and.... (ahem)... some don't.
This board is such a big ridiculous lunch table at middle school, it's absurd. If you don't like Wicked or Cheno then don't read the F***ing post you f***ing hypocrites!
