The Real Housewives of Atlanta personality has made Broadway the center of her storyline this season. She brought her fellow Housewives to see the show she produced, Thoughts of a Colored Man, and in the most recent episode, she teared up talking about its closing and her desire to continue working and eventually be successful in the Broadway world. Other Housewives have done stints IN shows, but it’s nice to hear Kandi talk about her appreciation of the behind-the-scenes workings of it all. She’s going to be a producer on Piano Lessons, so I hope things go better for her on that one!

Even the most successful Broadway producers see many more closures at a loss than see a show turn profitable. So, welcome to Broadway, Kandi.

I do think that Kandi of all of the housewives of any franchise has the business sense and clout to establish herself in the producing landscape. God knows we need more BIPOC, and particularly Black women producing on the main stem. So I hope she finds success and finds producing partners that aren't just after her name for clout, but can leverage her unique skills and connections in other industries.

Totally agree. Kandi really gets out there to produce, and put her muscle behind the shows she is working on. I too am a fan of the show. A shame Thoughts of a Colored Man closed so early....What a great plan if the play ran its full time and led right in to Housewives. That would have been a killer story.

Right? She's also produced local stage shows in Atlanta. Not sure any of them would work on Broadway but we know she's got the talent and skill to write, so maybe she could produce her own musical. I'd love to see No Scrubs on Broadway.

I really admire what she’s doing, you can sense her passion. It seems she’s going to keep producing to advance African American stories and talent which is wonderful.

RippedMan, I agree, I could see her writing a Broadway musical eventually.
