Kari Callin reminds me a bit of Judy Garland. She needs a little vocal work, but my goodness what a talent.
Please don't let her become another Susan Boyle.
I hope she succeeds.

I thought she was MUCH better than Susan Boyle. I mean, she was actually pretty great!
That was really fantastic.
She clearly needs some training but that was great. I just hate that America's Got Talent is pushing the discovery of an American Su.Bo. But that was really wonderful...I hope she gets some kind of vocal coach because she could be even better.
Did anyone watch her sing Don't Rain On My Parade? She knocked it out of the park.

I watched that just now. She is even better at that. Her vibrato sounds so jazzy, and is somewhat in control, unlike Boyle's...
The America's Got Talent clip is terrific, but the Don't Rain On My Rarade clip is sensational.
The Don't Rain on My Parade is great, but if you watch it on BWW TV it says the song is from Hello, Dolly! Oh, the irony.
I hope she doesn't go the way of Susan Boyle either. but she seems a little savvier than SuBo, so I don't think it'll be the same.
Everything about Nick Cannon makes me want to take a gun to my head.

Kari's voice really sounds to me like Barbra Streisand's in a way. Barbra's is obviously more traned, but some of Kari's tone and vibrato is similar to Barbra's.
Barbra's Somewhere
Yep, another wow for Don't Rain On My Parade.
Definitely could see her in Gypsy.
From Funny Girl, actually

Holy crap. That "Don't Rain on My Parade" was really something. Damn.
Wow, the first note of Susan Boyle's audition was impressive to me but then I got bored. This woman really is great, and the "Don't Rain on My Parade" video was incredible!
This is true talent! One of the best renditions of "Don't Rain on my Parade" I've seen in awhile! Yes, she's a little rough around the edges, but much more talented than Susan Boyle; she is a performer! I hope to see more wonderful things from this woman!
I winced when she started shouting and straining, and it was really annoying how David went "yes!" at that part. Is belting all people care about?

Yeah she is good, but really, what is up with broadway world saying Don't Rain on my Parade is from Hello, Dolly?
She has her own Web site and fan club started now.
Wow, that was fast.

her "Don't Rain On My Parade" was flawless. She should do that song for the next round.
Well, AGT cut Kari Callin. Not in a nice way either. After all the contestants arrived in Vegas, one group was sent home immediately, not getting another chance to perform.
Kari did get a last line to express her disappointment.
I think the way these acts were cut was just cold.
As I said in the thread title... Wow...
See it here.... Kari is in the first section of the video.
Kari gets shipped out...

According to Kari's blog, there may be something up tonight with the producers at AGT. Who knows, maybe she'll get another shot.
I hate this show, glad I don't watch it.

I no longer watch AGT. I have a friend whose group was asked to auditon for the show, then totally abused. Their performance was sabotaged, they were mocked by the judges, then their performance was edited to appear even worse.
On that same track Brian, Kari alludes to the fact that she was wearing frumpy clothes at the audition on someone's advice.... I am guessing the producer or lackey...
I think she may have been sabotaged a bit.
THAT was harsh. Pack your bags, get into costume (why, oh, why) and....go home?
I'm suprised they didn't put her through.
I should give this thread a subtitle:
America's Got Talent Royally Sucks
Through reading a couple blogs (I am not watching the show), I've learned that out of all the people the show sent away in the airport hangar (despicable), they are now choosing eight acts to come back as wildcards. Apparently two of those wildcards performed last night (not Kari Callin).
I have no doubt she will get one of the remaining six wildcard slots. Makes for great drama, and that's what they are going for. What a roller coaster ride ... You're in...you're out before we give you another chance hah ha.....Ah okay, you're back in, maybe...
I can't get over how this show treats people. Sadly, as I read Kari's blog it reveals how desperately she wants that big break so she will do what the producers tell her to do.
That the producers would treat people so badly, especially those so vulnerable ...
I'll continue to watch the vids on the net, but this show is not getting my home's demographic count.
Oh, so manipulative. Truly a bit of cruelty...the initial send off and then the bring them back.
I don't actually watch the show, but I'm sure they will take such great credit if any of them make the cut and likewise say "I told you so" for those that don't.
