The new Glinda for the 1st National tour of "Wicked" will be Chandra L. Schwartz, who will succeed Katie Rose Clarke on August 18. Chandra is currently satrring in the Pittsburgh CLO's production of "Barry Manilow's Copacabana." She confirmed this at the end of this video:

So would I. However, she says that after her run with the tour is over, she is going to take a long break and spend some time with her family.

I quickly saw the word "replacement" and "Wicked" in the title and got excited think that Alli Mauzy's replacement on Broadway would finally be announced. Then I saw it said 1st national tour. Now I'm a little less interested. Is it bad that I haven't heard of either actress
I am with ya on never having heard of Katie's replacement... but it is pretty sad you don't know who Katie Rose Clarke is! :P

Chandra Lee Schwartz? Hmm.. I am very familiar with her from whens he played Penny and LouAnn in Hairspray.. I can see it, but she is totally an unexpected choice.
I'm seeing the tour on the 9th. I'm glad I get to see her before she leaves.
I saw the tour in SD Wed. night - Katie Rose Clarke was FANTASTIC!!! Very subtle and honest - and in my opinion, one of the best Glinda's I've seen. Though, I'm now VERY excited to see Chandra.
Nice to know the tour got someone new, while Broadway seems to be stuck with Erin Mackey.
Chandra is a BRILLIANT choice for the replacement. She headed up the cast of the musical version of "But I'm a Cheerleader" and the world premiere of the musical "NERDS". She has a stunning voice and just the right amount of "leading lady quirk" that Glinda needs. I cant wait to see her! Her performance in Hairspray topped that of Kerry Butlers (for me anyways), and her Sharpay was the ONLY good part of the HSM musical at PCLO.
I like Erin Mackey. She's no Katie Rose Clarke or (Broadway) Megan Hilty, but I like her. I'm hoping she'll suprise us

Zoraksferal, if it's sad that I don't know who Katie Rose Clarke is, then can you explain who she is? Obviously, she's played Glinda, but she doesn't show up on ibdb.com
Also, you should tell my friends who haven't heard of Patti Lupone, Stephen Sondheim, or Les Miserables that it's sad that I don't know who she is.
Katie Rose Clarke's only Broadway credit is The Light in the Piazza. She replaced Kelli O'Hara and can be seen on the PBS broadcast of the show.

Thanks for the clarification. I haven't seen the broadcast of the Light in the Piazza, but I'll probably see if they have it at my library.
If she was a replacement in the show, shouldn't she be on ibdb.com? I was sure I spelled her name right...
You wont be able to find it at your library; it was never released. Go on youtube, search "TLitP" (search EXACTLY that, TLitP). See what you find
She's listed just as "Katie Clarke" on IBDB.

Katie Clarke was her original Equity name. She changed it sometime between the closing of Light in the Piazza in NY and her joining its US Tour in Spring 2007 (in which she had greatly improved...her voice had so much power, and her performance has really grown into something stellar).

Katie's performance on the PBS Light in the... was terrible. I have yet been able to watch it all the way through. She seems so consumed with nerves that it is painful to watch; her voice is weak, her acting bland. AWFUL!
Her singing was terrible on the PBS broadcast, but her acting was beyond brilliant. Since then, she's done a 180 vocally and her acting has gotten even better, which I didn't think was possible because it was practically perfect to begin with. I think Katie is by far the most naturally gifted actress of my generation.

I said this on WoO and I will say it here too.
Chandra is cute. Her speaking voice is kinda low for a Glinda though IMO. Is she gonna put on one of those squeaky voices like some of them do?
Also I can't wait to see Erin Mackey who we are "stuck with" on Broadway.

Stacie Morgain Lewis, who starred as Glinda in Chicago, played the character with a low speaking voice and I thought she did a great job.
Have only seen youtubes of Erin, but she's got big shoes to fill...
m seeing this tour in March in New Orleans. Although I am kind of dissapointed that it is not Annaleise Van der Pol or someone with more star power, I think this girl is going to be great! It seems wicked 1st tour has been bringing in fresh faces as Glinda (Kendra, Christina, Katie, now Chandra)

Since when has a performer's "star power" made him or her any better than somebody else? A lot of bad celebrities have appeared on Broadway. I would rather see a great performer than a celebrity.
