I am at a local hospital awaiting the results of a head scan. I had been experiencing significant dizziness in the midst of our heat wave. Possible vertigo. Roman in Austin, Texas.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
Hey Roman. I've been dealing with dizziness that can't be precisely diagnosed, but we think it's related to barometric pressure changes triggering a migraine type response. A heat wave comes with a massive pressure change. I want you to have this info in case they can't pinpoint it. Of note: I'm fine and my life is barely impaired by the problem
Thank you everyone. I'm back in my apartment. I have been resting for a couple of hours. Since Monday afternoon, I had been experience significant episodes of dizziness in the midst of our heat wave. I visited Laredo this past weekend. The highest temperature was 109 with a heat index of 117. Luckily, I had a lunch appt. with my two sisters. I had a difficult episode of vertigo at a restaurant and was able to to get home. I had another episode at my apt. and called my sisters to take me to the hospital. Once there, I was attended to. I had a head scan, which ultimately showed that I had experienced significant episodes of dehydration along with vertigo. I hope I never have that happen again. It was awful. I am waiting to get my prescriptions in the morning. That and a referreal to an ENT will solve this problem. Thank you, Roman in Austin, Texas

I had two episodes of vertigo 11 years ago, and it was the worst thing I'd ever experienced in my life, so I understand how scary this was for you. One episode happened in the middle of the night (woke me up from sleep) and the other happened at work. Each episode caused me to vomit. I'd never had these symptoms and really thought I was dying, and would have done anything to make the spinning stop. It felt like I was on an out of control amusement park ride for an hour and a half each time (or a plane falling out of the sky). Anyway, I got every medical test imaginable to find out there was... nothing wrong with me LOL and I have not experienced vertigo at all since those 2 episodes 11 years ago. Human bodies are odd things and the strangest things or combinations of things can cause huge problems, albeit sometimes only temporary. I truly hope you don't ever experience these symptoms again and you can look back on this, like I did, as an odd and isolated happening.
