According to Broadwayworld, the first rehearsal is ACTUALLY the 5th or 12th of JULY for chorus boys, and the first preview is the 7th of AUGUST.

Which is still too late for me :P but still.
The principle rehearsals start July 15th..
It's silly to talk about Karen Morrow and "bad taste." Karen Morrow transcends bad taste.
Karen Morrow sings 'I Had a Ball'
qolbinau, this seems to get stranger and stranger...each casting call has a different rehearsal and performance start date.......
Just realized Duke is 64....too young for Hattie, and she really couldn't sing Carlotta according to most people on here.
I'm not involved in any kind of musical production, but isn't it reasonable that they might rehearse the principles at a different time from the chorus? (Or does everyone rehearse together?), I have no idea.
qolbinau - it's not uncommon for the ensemble/dancers to go in a week earlier, and then they'll add in the principals. But this is mainly about the ever-moving preview start date.
Hi everyone
Just been listening to a BBC Radio 2 interview with Stephen Sondheim, he was asked if Broadway or the West End would have a production of Follies anytime soon - the person asking the question obviously doesn't read Broadwayworld!! Anyway,
Mr Sondheim said the KC production would open on Broadway on the 22 July - so many dates floating around!! Interestingly, he said he knew of no plans for a West End production, wonder if Trevor Nunn has decided against his production now?
ps. Congratulations to all you New Yorkers on the Marriage Equality act being passed. Fabulous x
VeraCharles3, can you link to this interview?
Oh, found it

He must be mistaken, Jan Maxwell is involved in another show until July 31st..
this is tearing me apart, I can't wait for them to just make an announcement already!! Please, just let tickets go on sale, so I can buy a bunch and then get back to my normal life. Whatever THAT is.
qolbinau, apologies, i should have just put on the link in the first place, just wasn't sure if it would work outside the UK.
Anyway glad you found it.
Question--in the original production (or any other production for that matter), do Phyllis and Sally high five/low five after the Mirror Number? It stuck out to me for some reason--would two 49 year old women be high-fiving in 1971?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_five
High Five, yes
Low Five, no.
Chita Rivera would've been ideal, but if not her I would've loved to see Dame Shirley Bassey as Solange.
Did I dream it or was it mentioned some where that they are in talks with Debbie Reynolds for Hattie?
That would've been too good to be true.
I'm sure this may sound crazy to many of you, but I'd love to see Karen Black back on Broadway as Carlotta. She's perfect for the role both dramatically and musically, is a Sondheim veteran, and most importantly is everything Carlotta has been as a celebrity and an actress.

Oh my.
That's actually a very interesting idea. But I'm concern about Black's age. She's 71 years old and looks her age, unlike Debbie Reynolds who is almost 80, but looks at least 20 years younger.
Of curse it doesn't matter, since Paige is transferring with the show.
Of course you're right. She's too old and looks older. But I couldn't resist getting that idea out.
Karen Morrow seems a definitive choice for Hattie.
If I couldn't have Sonia Braga as Solange, I'd want Jane Lapotaire.
"Please, just let tickets go on sale, so I can buy a bunch and then get back to my normal life. Whatever THAT is."
I love that comment so much...
I'm surprised they are taking this long to put tickets on sale, unless they are waiting to cast all of the principles (which I guess sounds a lot more logical than I thought it did when I started writing this post, lol).
The Auditions finished 40 minutes ago..apparently.
but, qolbinau, are they ACTUALLY going to cast Hattie Walker and Solange out of auditions?? Maybe standbys for them but one would assume whomever they cast for those roles (particularly Hattie) will not have auditioned. Solange could be an auditionee though...but it's not that likely...
COMEON let's release this cast list already!!
