Per today's Gatecrasher in the Daily News:
"A tipster says (Jane Krakowski) the '30 Rock' star has been tapped for the part (of Lola) opposite Sean Hayes of 'Will & Grace' who would play the Devil, Mr. Applegate.
...
Two sources with knowledge of negotiations said the deal had yet to be inked, but was expected to be finalized very soon."

hmmm.. So I guess Anne Hathaway as Lola did not work during the negotations, huh?
I heard that Sean Hayes as Mr. Applegate & Anne Hathaway as Lola..but I guess.. its Jane now..

Wasn't Sean "Macho man" Hayes supposed to be in "Promises Promises"? This is a much better part for him. He can play a sexless, Paul Lynde-like Satan perfectly.
Yup. That's why probably Anne Hathaway's Lola did not work out bec. they are supposed to star together in PROMISES, PROMISES. but who knows?
I would love to see Sean Hayes onstage!

I think PROMISES, PROMISES is (at least for now) just an exploratory reading.
how much do i love Jane Krakowski?! seriously...

Sean Hayes? Was Boy George or Ru Paul not available?
I actually don't mind the thought of these two - I'd love seeing them on stage, and Jane can sing, and ... I actually don't know if Sean can but I want to see his versatility.
Yessiree... Sean Hayes can sing, dance and play musical instruments.
Here he is (along with Megan Mullally) singing "Unforgettable" on the Series Finale' of WILL & GRACE. And yes... Sean is actually playing the piano.

sean hayes sings rather well, evidence of which is found on youtube (his duet of "unforgettable" with megan mullally)
Didn't Sean Hayes star in a production (or a workshop) of the musical NERDS in the West Coast?
I would love to see these two together, they are both funny and talented.
Krakowski is a thousand times more appropriate for Lola than Hathaway whom I thought would have been miscast in the role. Krakowski has been missing from the NY stage for too long.

Sean was Musical Director at the Pheasant Run Dinner Theatre near Chicago.
Man, it's too bad Cheyenne and Matt are busy with their respective shows.
They would be AMAZING Young Joes!
I agree with WannaBe, plus from what I hear from the people who were at the XANADU workshops, Krakowski and Jackson have insane chemistry. They would make a nice pairing.
Wonder who they are looking at for Joe.

Why are they doing this so soon after the revival? I thought the whole Encores thing was to do shows that dont get done that often.
I guess after Gypsy, that idea went out the window.
What I would have given to see On a Clear Day or Purlie transfer to full blown productions after their Encores stint.
Well, that's their regular Encores! season purpose. Their Summer Stars purpose is supposed to be revivals with stars playing the roles they were born to play. Though I'm not sure they kept the "born to play part" for this season.
I was disappointed by the choice of DAMN YANKEES as well but if Krakowski gets cast as Lola and on top of that, we get Sean Hayes as Applegate, you can count me in.
The recent Broadway revival was in 1994! That is eons ago in the Broadway revival resurrection time-frame.

Fine, I guess the visions of Jerry Lewis still haunt me in my dreams.

Encores has slowly been getting away from their original mission. When they did Bye Bye Biridie that was pretty much the signal that it was Bye Bye Encores.
Purlie would not have transfered to Broadway. The show hasn't aged well.

Man, I loved Purlie. At least there's a good video floating around.
Actually as far as Birdie is concerned, it hasn't been on broadway at all since the oBC, right? I remember a tour with Tune and Reinking, and then talk about bringing it here, but that never materialized. I know it gets done to death regionally and community/high school wise.

That's why it was a poor choice for Encores. Plus the tv movie. The regular Encores season is supposed to present shows that will not necessarily appear on Broadway.
NO WAY. Sean Hayes? Unbelievable. I love that casting.
Ah yes, 'The Jerry Lewis Show'! we had that in London for a few months! Painful!
LOVE Krakowski. That's a FABULOUS casting call!
Hayes? I have to admit: I am intrigued!
WHEN is this slated for? (Forgive my brain freeze.)
