Perfect casting!
Sean Hayes? Seriously? Is this a joke? Bad choice. VERY bad choice for this role.
I know, it should have been Fantasia.
As far as discounts, hubee, tix start at $25

Visions of Jerry Lewis in the red leisure suit still make me twitch!
I think that the Sean Hayes casting leans a little more towards Jerry Lewis than I'd prefer. I remember fondly the incomparable Victor Garber -- an outstanding Applegate!

You all do realize that flamboyantly gay men play lead roles on Broadway quite frequently, don't you? It is called acting guys, and I would also think that people here would be a lot less degrading to gay performers.

People actually retain memories of Lewis in that revival? All I remember is Jarrod Emick, and that is just fine with me!
As a straight guy I was getting uncomfortable with the overtly homophobic comments on this thread. Tell me that Ray Walston played Applegate butch. Just try and tell me that.
I love my gay brothers on Broadway and Sean will fit in perfectly in that role, the litt;le devil.
HOWEVER, I must admit I am sad to see the metamorphosis that has befallen "Encores." Let's face it, they're rapidly becoming just another Broadway production house.
And at $110.00 for top seats and the skimpy sets and onstage orchestras and short rehearsal periods, they really are starting to overstay their welcome.
Why bother trying to mount a full Broadway show if you can just "Encore" it instead?

Actually, this is their summer series, so it is more put together than Encore's. It is similar to Gypsy.
I'm so there.
I love Damn Yankees and cannot wait to see what Jane and Sean bring to the roles. :)
Any word on whose to play Joe Hardy?

No rush for Encores that I've seen, whoever asked that. There is some kind of student discount thing, though, ahead of time. Someone posted about it in a thread and I didn't write it down.

Sean Hayes is no more effeminate than Victor Garber. Sean Hayes ACTED like a big ole sissy when he played Jack McFarland. Victor Garber ACTED like a big ole sissy when he played Liberace. When being interviewed on the Tongight Show, both of them ACT a little more butch.
Garber may be gay yet he is anything but effeminate, which is why I think his personal life has never conflicted with the great roles he has been able to play on film/TV (particularly the hottest and very straight TV dad, Jack Bristow).
Sean Hayes was ACTING when he did Jack, whenever I see him on an interview he comes off as really shy and sort of humble. Most recently I saw him on 30 ROCK and he was hilarious and not effeminate at all. Who cares how he is in real life, the point is that he knows how to act the role and bring new depths to it, and most importantly, make it funny which Hayes will definitely be able to do.
He didn't have any scenes with Krakowski in 30 ROCK, so it'll be nice seeing them together now.
My first thoughts were uncertainty, but the more I think about this casting, the more I kind of like it (Hayes I mean -- Krakowski is a no-brainer).
I'll definitely be there to see it, at least.

Hayes did a lot of theatre in Chicago before he moved on to film and tv. I think it's a great choice.
I hope the student discount is good, eee.
The summer shows are more like "Gypsy?" Were it not for the three stars, we'd be calling it Gyped-sy. The show has no depth (the production, not the piece).

They should have gone with a sexier Applegate not the Jerry Lewis Applegate.

Hathaway would have been better.
This could make me fly to NYC.

I am just going to DIE when I see this! I am THE biggest fan of Sean Hayes... If I could have the honor of meeting him at the stage door, I wouldn't even know what to say. He's meant SO much to my life, I think about him all the time (mainly because I'm quoting Jack McFarland), and he never fails to put a smile on my face. He is so talented, and I can't wait for Broadway fans to see what he's made of!
Why would have Hathaway been a better choice?

Does anyone have the address for this theater? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
