Can't wait to see this!! Would anyone be willing to record it and put it on a DVD and send it to me? I would gladly pay. :)
I can't believe she did that. Wow. A Pageant Girl. Geesh. So cheesy.
I guess it gave her good training and poise.

Fantastic! What a great job and selection of material. Yes, she shall be Dolly someday!
The complete concert is already on the PBS website for those of you with continued interest...

The year after Miss Oklahoma she competed at Miss Pennsylvania. She was Miss State Capitol and I was her Executive Director. She did the same talent selection and wore all the same clothes. She finished as second runner up in both OK and PA.
It was while she was in PA that summer that she auditioned for a role at the Paper Mill Playhouse, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Really? I thought it was all very lack-luster. I found her persona kind of wearying and her choice of material was odd to say the least.
She hosted "LIVE!" this morning in place of Kelly and was a hoot. Just fun to watch, genuine natural.
Tried to watch a few minutes of this and I couldn't bear it. To me, she becomes more a parody of herself all the time. Yuck
I was obsessed with her about ten years ago. I thought she could do no wrong. Having said that, I watched maybe the first twenty minutes of the concert last evening and just had to turn it off. The shtick was just too much for me. I respect her enough to not call her a "One Trick Pony," especially since that one trick has made her some serious bank, and given her fame to boot. However, that concert was a mess.
Great view though!
I think she's becoming a great host. From the Oscars to "LIVE!" she's just fun to watch. By the way, I checked shes on tomorrow as well.
I thought she was kind of phony. The stories and jokes didn't land. It just didn't seem genuine.
Her rendition of Green Finch and Linnet bird was simply breathtaking, and she'll make a FABULOUS Dolly!!!
Will watch it sometime this week. Was this also at the Allen room?
I agree with Ripped Man

Exactly, she just seems extremely disingenuous. My favorite Cheno moment was when she was behaving rather weirdly on Letterman. Now that was funny!

Love her voice, can't stand her shtick. I saw her in concert last year and when she just sang without any theatrics, it was sublime. I don't know why she feels the need to dumb herself down.
I thought she was unbearable on the red carpet at the Oscars. Her cloying cuteness combined with her botoxed face and shark eyes were just unwatchable.
I don't recall which number it was, but there was one particular dramatic number which she acted to perfection.
Also for me the audience was way too polite. They were even some who didn't applaud.

I had the same response. I find that she does not have natural comedic talent. It all seems forced. I like her a lot, but the performance last night made me realized that she is much better in small dosages (no pun intended).
I was surprised to find myself so unimpressed, also. I once thought that Kristin could do no wrong. But my expectations were so high largely because of the reviews of the live performance last month. They were off the charts. Even one critic who had never been one of her biggest fans was impressed by the "growth" in her that he had seen in this concert.
I think that the broadcast was also hurt by the editing. The eclectic song list of sixteen songs was further damaged by the songs not included. Her closing song, Edelweiss, in particular had drawn great critical praise. Didn't see it.
Her strength is her voice and her ability to re-interpret old songs. Kristin, like Audra, has wasted far too much time doing junk TV shows.

I will say that she has never looked better, and actually looked healthy.

It was disappointing, I saw her last year at NY City Center and thought she was much more entertaining and had a better connection with the audience, which was much more ample is size. Maybe it was just an off night for her, stinks when it is only a one night show though.
I agree about the connection of the audience, she was recieving rather dull reception since the beginning. I think her song selections also hurt her a bit. When you're talking about the Dames of Broadway, I expect Rose, Mame, Sally, Christine, Fantine, Eliza, Evita... So on that note it was a bit disaapointing, nevertheless she shone as always, Incredibly gorgeous and talented lady!!
