Is anyone planning on seeing either of these productions (or have seen L5Y)? I'm looking forward to both, though I can't find much information on the L5Y production. Boston BWW meet up?
Is TWP LaChiusa's?
I've been looking for info too, but I am dying to see both shows. What have you found about TWP? Oh, and a meet up is definitely required.
Boston's getting two good shows! I hope it's Lippa's Wild Party.

Sorry, Wild Party is Lippa's at New Repertory Theatre Company.

(I may or may not have had that link bookmarked for months)
Yes! I'm going to Boston soon, and hopefully I'll get to see TWP and L5Y.
The incredible Marla Mindelle will be playing Queenie in the Boston production of "The Wild Party."
Anyone fortunate enough to see her in the role is in for a real treat.
Okay, so who's up for 35 and under night? I'm so there. Oh the Out at New Rep night. Or the dress rehearsal. Basically, I'm going to try to see this production more than once because I absolutely adore this show.
Oh, and can Andrew Lippa please show up one night and do something like MJL did when See What I Wanna See was in Boston? Because that would make me life.

Allie- I have heard that Mr. Lippa is heavily involved in the production, so this might happen. I'm planning on going to the dress rehearsal and probably a couple more times, depending on the production. I can't wait!

Somethingwicked- I feel like I've heard that name before. Why would that be?
Scott Alan used her for a reading or two and has raved about her a ton.

I got it. She did the Pocahantas thing. HILARIOUS. Cannot wait to see her live.
I wonder if Wild Party will have student rush.

Cross-posted from the Boston board....
I just got back from L5Y.... any it was pretty decent. It was their preview performance, so they still haven't worked 100% of the kinks out (there were a few lighting mishaps, a forgotten prop and one botched lyric), but the performers did a fine job with such difficult material.
I don't know if you've ever been to the black box theater at the Arsenal Center for the Arts, but it holds about 70 seats, so it is uber-intimate. What made it even more intimate was the attendance tonight.... let's just say that the 5-member orchestra outnumbered the audience (and I'm not exaggerating - there were a total of 4 people in the house, plus the director). It was a shame, hopefully as the run progresses, attendance will pick up.
And, apparently, its not New Rep that is putting on the production, its a brand new theater company, Blue Spruce Theatre, with L5Y being its inaugural production. Their site is: http://www.bluesprucetheatre.org/

Millie- WP has student tickets for $32 as opposed to the usual $45ish.
L5Y has $18 for students.
Timote- thanks for the review. I am looking forward to it. I hope it finds an audience.
These Boston posts should really be on the Boston board, but you can get WP tix for 25 on here, http://www.artsboston.org/
I also encourage everyone to go see L5Y. The performers are top-notch.
Not enough people post on the Boston board...it's sometimes more convenient to go here.

I believe Lippa is going to be at a benefit night, want to say May 8. You can check it out from the theatre.
My best friend's in TWP -- so I've pretty much been hearing about it relentlessly since they started rehearsals a week ago.
It should be interesting, at least... I'll let y'all know after I make that required trek from NYC to Baaahston at the end of the month.
I am totally unfamiliar with both these shows, but I'm definately going to go see them. It's too bad the Boston theatre scene is so bad.
I'm actually playing in the pit for The Wild Party for a couple performances. My voice teacher is the musical director. He won two consecutive IRNE Awards for musical direction. I haven't yet seen the show, but I'm assuming it sounds good, haha.
I also know the musical director for The Last 5 Years. Both of them are voice teachers at Emerson College.

HA! I think the Boston theatre scene is fabulous. I mean, after New York, you've got Chicago, LA, and Boston. Then again I come from Atlanta so almost anything is better than that.
HeyMrMusic- a bunch of us should go on a night you're playing in the pit! Cheer on one of our own.
Aw, that's awfully sweet of you, haha.
I believe I will be playing on April 25 and April 27 (Wednesday and Friday). I'll be playing the Keyboard 2 book. Haven't gotten the music yet though...
