Who were Glinda and Elphie in that show?
It was the original Broadway cast.

Its not really appropriate to joke around and come up with an ad lib when you arent sure whats going on and you arent sure to stop. Shes human. She did fine.
lol aww poor Kendra...I wouldn't of known what to do. When Miss Saigon came to Dallas, the electricity went out during Kim's last song in Act I because of a storm in the area, and the music director was yelling for Kim to stop singing and get off stage. Even when the electricity was off, Kim kept singing until told to stop. That's what I've always been taught to do. So I think Kendra did good. It would of been funny though had she said something clever. I'm sure she was pretty suprised and confused though.
Love,
Brandon
Oh please understand, I didn't mean to say that she didn't do fine. In fact she did WAY better than I think I could ever do in such a situation. It's just a hypothetical question that I was asking...HAD she known what was going on and that she had to stop, and could look back in hindsight and choose what to say...that's what I was meaning. No disrespect to Kendra, I'm sure she did just fine! :)
haha yea my friend who went to a performance last week of WICKED in LA, he said one of the beds didnt make it off stage for the next scene, I hope they can patch up these technical difficulties

The New York production is known for having a few technical problems here and there. I guess it was only natural that the problem would spread to all the productions.
I just saw the New York production again on Wednesday, and the trap door was late coming up at the beginning of "No Good Deed" when Elphaba is yelling Fiyero. Poor Shoshana ended up holding that note about 5 or more seconds longer than she had planned. Her face got very tense and you could tell she was out of breath.
Yeah, maybe she turned green. Oh . . . . but how would you be able to tell

I was there on the 13th when they had to manually push the bed off the stage.
Ah the good ole days.
I'm sorry - but if you think the effects look cheap - you have an issue. You're are allowed to hate the show - but just because it's Wicked - you must say the effects look cheap. I'm not the biggest Wicked fan - but I think the costumes set/effects are great.
HAHA! that must have been interesting! when I went on Wednesday to Chicago's the bubble rocked kinda funny (with Kate in it!) and it went through my head "what if that were to stop working?"
well now I know!
good line by Maria!
See, that is just it, I don't hate the show. I liked it very much. But everyone acts as if this were the first time people flew on stage or furniture moved on by itself. These are the oldest forms of "stage magic" and have been done much better and more seamlessly many, many times before. If this is supposed to be the best stage effects money can buy things are in a sorry state. And I didn't even bring up the tacky scrim that the poor actress is forced to pull across the stage on a cheap curtain rod to make that fantastic "melting" effect shadow. Ohhh, look, you only see her SHADOW!!! That is AWESOME!!!!"
Kind of off subject here, but I think the bubble looks more like the pendulum (sp?) of a clock...I always wonderered if that was in reference to the Time Dragon Clock in the book.
Popular, I have been trying to think of a good ad lib for Galinda to have done....my brain is still asleep. I love the idea about going to find more ruffles. It was still very early in the show, so Glinda's character hadn't had much development at that point. I felt bad for all of the actors on stage, and I have no professional experience to draw from. I have always heard you are to keep going and not break the illusion...but they did have to get rid of the bubble before Shiz, so maybe bring down the curtain was the only way.
As long as nobody got hurt...There have been too many injuries and close calls on that show..On tour, on Broadway and in Chicago.
Wow. I saw it on the 20th...best show, there was not one understudy. Tho I have seen it with understudys and it is just as good. That bubble situation must have been interesting/
defygravity..the reason it's shaped like taht is it's a Bubble Wand..the kind you blow bubbles with.
it has nothing to do with the time dragon clock...nothing in the show has to do with that thing ahha.
it has nothing to do with the time dragon clock...nothing in the show has to do with that thing ahha.
And yet it is there throughout the entire show for all to wonder at and wrack their brains trying to figure out what the hell it is supposed to symbolize...
haha exactly Sueleen!
no one said the show was perfect! lol or if they did they weren't very smart....

Popular, what was the "Look, it's tomorrow!" line?
Sorry Steph but I have to sort of agree that it is there and mentioned even in one of Glinda's lines "according to the Time Dragon Clock, the melting occured...." That's an interesting thought about it being shaped like a bubble wand though. cool! I never saw that before.
Well, yes..it's mentioned...does it have anything to do with anything? and is it's importance mentioned? no.
sorry if that sounds rude! i don't mean it to be! :)
Ahh, I see what you are saying. True it's not really relevant at all to the story (I haven't read the book but I don't think it is). I thought you were saying that it wasn't there at all in the show.
That's what I get for skimming these posts quickly while working. :)
The "look it's tomorrow line" is during the Popular scene...there is a point where Elphaba reveals that she feels responsible for Nessa being in a wheelchair and I guess that line is used as a comic relief to break the seriousness of the mood. It's really random...my guess is that they've just come back from the Oz Dust Ballroom and she either sees the clock turn midnight or it's super late and she sees the sun coming up outside the window to their room.
You have no idea how many posts I've skimmed and read wrongly..we all do it :)
There is a lot about it in the book but it was complicated and I didn't quite understand it ..so it's probably good it's not in the musical!
I never thought of it as a bubble wand....clever!
The timedragon clock was important in the book, and was mentioned in the story as stated by Popular...and I believe that is why the dragon is above the stage.
Yeah and what about the dragon above the stage? Does that not have any to do with the show?
