Hoping that it is better than the misguided production done at the Delacorte.in 1998. David Cromer would be a splendid choice for directing; I am basing my opinion on his understanding of Wilder's OUR TOWN (acting and directing it) and the spectacular work he is showcasing now at PRAYER FOR THE FRENCH REPUBLIC.
I remain surprised that there hasn't been any further info. I wonder if LCT is thinking of moving the production to fall after seeing how poorly FLYING did?
First rehearsal is Feb 24, according to a casting notice.
It seems like LCT is moving forward with caution. The run was shortened and tickets are not on sale yet.

Still no casting news on this, no tickets on sale, and first preview is 7 weeks away. Wonder what's going on?
Everything is awfully weird surrounding this production.
Have there been rumors about the casting? Are members even able to buy tickets yet?
Maybe there's a problem behind the scenes, but if not, I'd guess the delay is simply because they expect to rely on their member base to buy tickets regardless of when they go onsale. And maybe the cast just isn't exciting enough for them to feel the need to market it. 1st rehearsal is 2/24? I'm guessing the cast is announced the same day, and tix onsale too.
Just speculation - I have no inside info.
I'm an LCT member. Tickets aren't on sale to members that I can see, and I have no inside info either. It is curious, but I'm looking forward to seeing it because it is one of my all-time favorite plays.

There is probably a fear of financial loss and major comping. This seems to be a theme with the non profits.

Apparently, final callbacks were this week.
Again, no knowledge - just wondering - maybe the lack of names and "on sale" dates are because Flying Closed early and they had to start putting Skin together quicker than planned.

My memory is coming back slowly....the Elizabeth Ashley production that I saw played at the ark Hellinger Theatre and Alfred Drake was Mr Antrobus.

Once I remembered a bit more of the production, I was able to find the NYT review of it:
Miss Ashley Sparks ‘The Skin of Our Teeth’ https://nyti.ms/1PtYzEb
(Obviously my attempt at posting a link wasn't effective)
I saw the Ashley-led production at the Kennedy Center. It was less than persuasive. Ashley, a logical Sabina for the era, wasn't well served. She seemed at sea with a lot of the humor, surprisingly. I remember Martha Scott's Mrs. Antrobus as the best thing in the show, or rather truest to Wilder's intentions It's not an easy play to shape for an audience experience, no matter how clever the conceits chosen for a given staging.
Still no word on what's going on with this?

Final callbacks were this week. As posted above.
I have been rereading the play and the book I bought has a fair amount of pictures from the original production which included a very handsome Montgomery Clift.

This may be silly, but as I was skimming the thread, there was a split second where my brain read "Ashley Park," which made me realize that Ashley Park would actually be a great Sabina!

Yes, when you think about who was in that original cast it is pretty incredible. Frederic March & his wife Florence Eldridge with Tallulah Bankhead. Lizabeth Scott was Bankhead's understudy, and when Bankhead left the show Miriam Hopkins took over.
That would be like if this production starred Brad Pitt & Jennifer Aniston with Jennifer Lopez as Sabina.
More likely this will.star some bland NY semi-name & another "Who's she?" with a former contestant from RuPaul's Drag Race as Sabina. Perhaps they will get John Stamos for the tour.
Who else remembers the Delacorte production? John Goodman was one of the better Antrobuses I've seen, able to score laughs in a role that actually has few in the text. Kristen Johnston was a fine Sabina, particularly in the middle act, which fit her best, and Frances Conroy was, as expected, perfect as Mrs. A. I'm of the opinion that Mrs. Antrobus is jewel in this play, her power growing as it progresses. I'm still waiting for a definitive Sabina, someone who might bring what Bankhead must have. It needs an element of the preposterous: someone elegant who, upon her entrance, is simply ridiculous in a maid's uniform carrying a feather duster, racing to the footlights with those lines. I believe the reveal of that initial disconnect -- sophisticated actor at odds with the domestic character -- is what makes the engine of the play work. Ashley seemed an ideal successor to Bankhead, and might've been with different direction.
It seems to have been removed from LCT website. Unless I’m crazy, I noticed it not long ago under “Shows” following Intimate Apparel and At The Wedding. Hmmm
It's there, but they just changed the first preview to 4/1, instead of 3/31:

For some reason it doesn't show up (and never has) when viewing the site from my phone, but does on a laptop. Must be an abbreviated LCT mobile site.
Casting has finally been announced.

On paper, that's a nice regional theatre cast. Interested to see what Cruz will do for the production.
The much more interesting thing, which I don't think was previously announced:
Playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins will contribute additional material for this production.
