I'm excited also! I have been curious to hear how the cast sounded since their reviews. And now it could be another alternative to the OBCR.

However excited I am, and trust me, I am jumping up and down with joy! I do feel there are other recent London shows, transfers revivals etc. which deserve there own London recording than this show... but I will DEFINITELY be buying this, as the cast are just FANTASTIC and I do LOVE Live recordings!

I hope it dosen't have Duncan James on it as Warner.

Did they change anything? Or why else would they re-record the show?

The lyrics to Ireland were completely rewritten. I don't like the new lyrics, but I look forward to the CD.

It will be Duncan.
Sheridan is Sheridan, just in a blonde wig and pink clothes. Shes very good as what she does, and her voice is far better than any videos have shown but she really isnt an Elle. Her personality and charisma carry her and the show through and it works.

Ugh. I want to know who Sheridan's dialect coach was, or if she even had one. Not that an American accent is particularly difficult, but I cringe every time I hear her sing "I'll even dress in blek han hoowite!"
Into the Woods, Beauty and the Beast, RENT, Mamma Mia!, Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde, Evita (with Julia Murney), Hairspray (with Paul Vogt), Peter and the Starcatchers (with Christian Borle), Lion King, Altar Boyz, Legally Blonde (with Lauren Zackrin).

... why? The Broadway one is perfectly good (far more fun to listen to than the show was to watch, I think). And this, of all things, needs two recordings?

The thing is, it isn't a case of either this show getting a recording over another show. It's a case of a recording for this show or no recording at all. We should be happy that the producers feel it is viable to release a London cast recording.

LET. ME. GET. THIS. RIGHT...
We can get TWO cast recordings of LEGALLY BLONDE but not ONE of CRY-BABY??!! bryan will be PISSED!
All jokes aside, this does seem highly unnecessary. When MAMMA MIA! came to Broadway, we didn't get a BCR. Why? Because the LCR was perfectly fine! When MARY POPPINS and BILLY ELLIOT came to Broadway, the LCR was sufficient, too. They haven't been re-recorded for the U.S. DOES THIS MEAN WE'RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU, BRITAIN!?!

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

No, it simply means the show's London producers decided to put up the money to record it.
There is no "Cast Recording Guru" who gets to decide which shows are "worthy" of cast recordings. If the producers want to pay for it, it can be done.

No, it means that because the show is doing extremely well over here the producers want a way to preserve it. The fans of Legally Blonde are the type that would gladly have 2 different recordings. There are plenty recordings of other shows so why can't Legally Blonde have a 2nd recording?!?!?!

Let me stop you right there. The LCR is NOT "perfectly fine."

Perhaps the sarcastic tone of the written words didn't catch on...

An inquiry and subsequent pending offer was supposed to come from Rhino Records(Warner Bros) (US) ,,,,,but before such offer was made the producers had said an "alternate route" of doing the London cast album was being explored....No offer then was presented. That rejection of a London cast album at that time was shortly after the show opened in the West End......They could have had an album months ago....by a US record label with far reaching ties in London. All the record sales by this time.....

"Sheridan is Sheridan, just in a blonde wig and pink clothes. a"
or a blonde addition to her already blonde hair. she seems quite adequate from what i have seen. most in London love her. mind you they love Tamzin as well which many in the US disagree with.
the recording is for London too. there are a few new lyrics as well to suit the area. i don't know what the big deal is to be honest.

I'm so happy about this! Shame it has to be another live recording, but at least I'll have a keepsake of Sheridan's brilliant performance. She brought far more depth and humor to the character of Elle than Laura Bell Bundy, in my opinion. Laura was adequate, but I never saw that star quality from her to carry the show and rather than lifting the material to a higher level of comedy and emotion. The material seemed to be driving her performance, which was pretty much by-the-numbers.
Overall, I much preferred the London production to Broadway, which works better in a smaller venue. Duncan's acting is weak, but his vocals were ok. Alex Gaumond knocks it out of the park with Emmett and Aoife Mulholland makes a surprisingly memorable impression with the forgettable role of Brooke. Even Caroline Keiff's Vivienne proves worthy competition to her original Broadway counterpart. Jill Halfpenny has a very different take on Paulette, much softer and more sweet, but I'm afraid nobody could top Orfeh's scene-stealing performance. Incidentally, there were only a few lyric changes in Ireland. It was not entirely re-written. There were a couple of other minor lyric changes. I know the Jet Blue line was changed in What You Want and I think a line of Omigod You Guys, but about 95% of the score is the same.
Honestly, I thought Legally Blonde was fun on Broadway, but in London, it was a stronger show led by Sheridan's star turn as Elle. I hope she gets the Oliver Award for it and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the show itself be a lead contender for Best Musical.

Mister Matt, I disagree with you 100% when you say that Laura Bell Bundy was "adequate". I think that she carried the show through it all. You knew she was the star and the show needed to revolve around her. She took the role through a growth change. Sheridan played the entire show like a 12 year old girl. She wasn't that impressive when I saw her.
I will agree that the show works better in a smaller theatre. The Savoy is a very nice theatre, and I think that the show may have donw better in New York if it played a smaller theatre.

Ok. I get what you're saying. Just reverse "Laura Bell Bundy" and "Sheridan" and you've pretty much nailed exactly how I feel.
